No School Monday September 7th

Days 6-10
(September 8 -September 14)

Kindergarten-
The students will complete an Art Pre-test. This will be used to assess their current level of art knowledge and skills. It will cover lines, shapes, colors, basic drawing ability, portraiture, and cutting and gluing. The exact same assessment will be given at the end of the year and then both will be graded and it will determine how much they have learned and retained throughout the year. The two grades will be averaged and included in the 4th marking period grades.

1st Grade-
The students will review different types of lines, shapes, and colors. The students will recognize how the elements of art are used together to create art. The students will point out examples of elements being used together in artworks. The students will complete worksheet in which they review line, shape, and color, draw examples of each, and then use them all together to create a picture.

2nd Grade-
The students will discuss art history and how art was made in the past. The students will review information about the Caves at Lascaux and discuss how the artists made the artwork and what materials were available to them. The students will view examples of the cave drawings and discuss what subject matter was drawn. The students will complete worksheet on the Caves at Lascaux, which includes practice drawing various animals.

3rd Grade-
The class will review information on texture and view examples of different textures found in the classroom and in various artworks. The students will complete class activity in which they create texture rubbings of interesting textures from throughout the classroom. They will begin practice of drawing various textures.

4th Grade-
The students will define landscape, the parts of a landscape, and view examples of landscapes. They will be able to define foreground, middleground, and background. The students will view landscape artwork and determine what makes a landscape successful. The students will apply knowledge learned to complete landscape worksheet.

5th Grade-
The students will be shown examples of value and discuss how value helps objects appear realistic and three-dimensional. The students will learn about light source, shadow, and how the shape of the object affects the shading. The students will complete a value study worksheet.
