Below is my weekly schedule so you can see which rotation day your child has art class. Each week I will give an overview of what students will be learning and creating in art class. I will also include relevant images, information, and links to additional resources. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns!!

Kindergarten-
Smith-
The students will review the primary colors. They will review how to properly trace shapes, then trace and color in shapes using the primary colors. They will cut out and glue down black strips to create an artwork in the style of Mondrian.

Green and Potts- The students will begin a new lesson by reviewing the parts of the face. They will recognize basic shapes that they can use to draw each facial feature. They will complete worksheet by practicing drawing their facial features.

 


1st Grade-
The students will review pattern. They will finish pattern worksheet. They will then learn about the artist Gustav Klimt and his use of pattern. They will practice patterns used by Klimt. The students will follow along to create abstract tree in the style of Klimt.






2nd Grade-
The students will review information on the Ancient Roman civilization, art and culture. The students will review the process of making mosaics. They will continue adding pieces to their mosaic designs.  



 

3rd Grade-
The students will finish adding details to their Symmetrical Alien. They will then be introduced to Asymmetry. They will practice Asymmetry using the white boards and then begin Asymmetry Packet.  

 


4th Grade-
They will add final touches to their Elements of Art projects by cutting out and gluing shapes onto colored paper. If all students finish the project, the class will be introduced to the Principles of Design. And then begin Principles of Design Packet.

 

5th Grade-
The students will review basic weaving techniques and continue on their paper weaving.
If students finish paper weaving project they will be given requirements for circular yarn weaving project and begin creating the warp for their project.

 


6th Grade-
The students will be introduced to one-point perspective. The students will follow along to create various shapes in perspective. They will complete perspective worksheet.

4th Grade-
They will add final touches to their Elements of Art projects by cutting out and gluing shapes onto colored paper. If all students finish the project, the class will be introduced to the Principles of Design. And then begin Principles of Design Packet.

 

5th Grade-
The students will review basic weaving techniques and continue on their paper weaving.
Any student who is not finished with the Ribbon/Rope project will do that first.
If students finish paper weaving project they will be given requirements for circular yarn weaving project and begin creating the warp for their project.

 


6th Grade-
The students will make final last prints of their design and then design and create their cards by adding wording, ribbon, glitter, etc.

Rotation Days 6-10
Wednesday December 9th – Tuesday December 15th


Kindergarten-
Smith-
The students will be introduced to the primary colors. They will learn what the primary colors are, why they are special, and how they can be used to mix other colors. They will learn about the artist Mondrian and complete worksheet on his artwork.

Green and Potts-
The students will review the primary and secondary colors and how they are mixed. The students will review how to properly draw an evergreen tree. The students will draw, cut out, and glue down evergreen tree using green paper painted last week. They will then use white paint to add snow to their picture.
**Students may bring in an old t-shirt or smock to wear while painting**

 


1st Grade-
The students will be introduced to pattern. They will view various patterns and how to create patterns of their own. They will complete pattern worksheet.

Any student who is not finished with the abstract underwater resist will finish coloring and painting their project.







2nd Grade-
The students will review information on the Ancient Roman civilization, art and culture. The students will review the process of making mosaics. If they complete their sketch they will begin their mosaic by creating a border and outlining their picture using black construction paper squares. They will begin adding colored pieces to their design.


 








3rd Grade-
The students will review information on Symmetry. They will view examples and then use their knowledge to complete symmetry packet. The students will then be given demonstration of how to create the symmetry project and begin brainstorming ideas.

 

4th Grade-
The students will review the Elements of Art and the project requirements. They will add final touches by cutting out and gluing shapes onto colored paper. If all students finish the project, the class will be introduced to the Principles of Design.

 


5th Grade-
The students will review basic weaving techniques and continue on their paper weaving.
Any student who is not finished with the Ribbon/Rope project will do that first.

 


6th Grade-
The students will review the process of transferring, tracing, and printing their greeting card design. They will finish transferring their design to foam and then create multiple prints of their design.
