Below is my weekly schedule so you can see which rotation day your child has art class. Each week I will give an overview of what students will be learning and creating in art class. November 1st-November 5th

7th Grade Art (1st and 7th Periods)
Monday-Students will take final Quiz.
Tuesday- Students will finish and hand in their abstract portraits.
Wednesday- The new group of 7th graders will be introduced to the art room and review the course syllabus.
Thursday- The students will be introduced to the first unit of study and view a PowerPoint.
Friday- The students will complete a sketchbook assignment.
 
Beginning Drawing (3rd, 4th, and 5th, Periods)
Monday- The students will continue sketching ideas for composition project.
Tuesday- The students will begin sketching on charcoal paper.
Wednesday-The students will continue on composition project.
Thursday-The students will continue on composition project.
Friday- The students will continue on composition project.

Intro to Art (6th Period)
Monday- The students will complete symbol activity. The students will review project requirements.
Tuesday- The students will begin sketching ideas for the symbol project.
Wednesday- Students will continue sketching.
Thursday- Students will begin on their final copy of their project.
Friday- Students will begin adding color to their project.

October 25th-October 29th

7th Grade Art (1st and 7th Periods)
Monday-Students will continue working on their abstract self-portraits.
Tuesday- Students will continue working on their abstract self-portraits by adding color.
Wednesday- Students will create shapes out of model magic for their abstract self-portraits.
Thursday- The students will complete a reading and writing prompt. Review for Quizz tomorrow.
Friday- Quiz. Students will continue their abstract self-portrait.

Beginning Drawing (3rd, 4th, and 5th, Periods)
Monday- The students will complete a negative space drawing.
Tuesday- The students will complete a drawing from an unusual view point.
Wednesday-The students will complete a drawing with a dramatic spotlighting.
Thursday-The students will complete a reading and writing prompt
Friday- The students will be introduced to the next project and begin sketching ideas.

Intro to Art (6th Period)
Monday- Students will finish working on their Paper Fruit project and hand it in.
Tuesday- Students will be introduced to the next unit of study, art history.
Wednesday- Students will complete and reading and writing prompt.Thursday- Students will continue taking notes and viewing images of artwork from various cultures.
Friday- Students will continue taking notes and viewing images of artwork. The students will be given requirements for art history project.

October 18th-October 22nd

7th Grade Art (1st and 7th Periods)
Monday-Students will continue on their realistic self-portrait
Tuesday- Students will be introduced to abstract artwork and view a number of abstract self-portraits. The students will be introduced to the next project, Abstract Portraits.
Wednesday- Students will brainstorm ideas for the project and begin sketching ideas.
Thursday- The students will complete a reading and writing prompt.
Friday- Students will continue their abstract self-portrait.

Beginning Drawing (3rd, 4th, and 5th, Periods)
Monday- The students will complete a sketchbook assignment.
Tuesday- The students will be introduced to various compositional techniques. The students will create a negative space drawing
Wednesday-The students will create a drawing with a strong focal point
Thursday-The students will complete a reading and writing prompt
Friday- The students will create a drawing from an unusual point of view.

October 11th-October 15th

7th Grade Art (1st and 7th Periods)
Monday-No School
Tuesday- No School
Wednesday- Students will be introduced to the next unit of study, Artists as Interpreters.The students will discuss symbols in art and learn about the artist Keith Haring. The students will complete a sketchbook assignment
Thursday- The students will discuss self-portraits and view a number of artist self-portraits. The students will learn about the proportions of the face and begin their self-portrait drawing.
Friday- Students will continue their self-portrait.

Beginning Drawing (3rd, 4th, and 5th, Periods)
Monday- No School
Tuesday- No School
Wednesday-Students will finish shading and hand in Stacked Boxes project. The students will be introduced to various type of charcoal and charcoal tools. The students will complete an abstract charcoal drawing.
Thursday-Students will be introduced to various compositional techniques. The students will create a series of texture rubbings.
Friday- The students will be introduced to negative space and create a series of negative space sketches.

Wednesday- Students will continue working on their Paper Fruit project.
Thursday- Students will continue working on their Paper Fruit project.
Friday- Students will continue working on their Paper Fruit project.

October 4th-October 8th

7th Grade Art (1st and 7th Periods)
Monday-Students will continue on Fantasy City Projects.
Tuesday- Students will continue on Fantasy City Projects.
Wednesday- Students will finish Fantasy City Projects. Fantasy Cities are due tomorrow.
Thursday- Students will complete a self-evaluation of their projects and hand in their Fantasy Cities. The students will be introduced to the next unit of study, Artists as Interpreters.
Friday- Students will review key vocabulary and complete a sketchbook assignment.

Beginning Drawing (3rd, 4th, and 5th, Periods)
Monday- Quiz today on one-point, two-point, and three-point perspective. Students will continue on Stacked Boxes project once they have completed the quiz.
Tuesday- Students will continue on Stacked Boxes project.
Wednesday-Students will continue on Stacked Boxes project.
Thursday-Students will continue on Stacked Boxes project. The Stacked Boxes will be due tomorrow.
Friday- The students will complete a self-evaluation of their projects and hand in their projects. The students will be introduced to the next unit of study, charcoal.


Intro to Art (6th Period)
Monday- Students will continue and finish painting their color charts.
Tuesday- Students will be introduced to paper artist Amy Eisenfeld Genser. The students will receive demonstration of paper quilling techniques.
Wednesday- The student will be introduced to the next project, Paper Fruit.
Thursday- The students will begin sketching ideas.
Friday- The students will begin working on their projects.
