Below is my weekly schedule so you can see which rotation day your child has art class. Each week I will give an overview of what students will be learning and creating in art class. I will also include relevant images, information, and links to additional resources. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns!!

Kindergarten-
Smith-
The students will review the proper way to use and care for scissors and glue sticks. They will then follow along to cut various lines to create shapes of different sizes. They will glue down shapes in a concentric pattern.

Green and Potts- The students will draw their favorite monster shape on the previously painted purple paper, cut out the head shape, and glue down on another piece of paper. They will add in facial features and details using markers.



 
 

1st Grade-The students will review information on Paul Klee and his style of abstract art. The students will begin sketching project in which they create an abstract underwater scene by including animals that don’t belong in the ocean.
Piatt-
The students will learn about the artist Paul Klee. They will view his abstract artwork. They will discuss how you can create abstract artwork by drawing things realistically, but placing them in unrealistic settings. The students will practice drawing a variety of animals.




2nd Grade-
The students will review information on the Ancient Roman civilization, art, and culture. The students will learn the process of making mosaics. The students will complete the Mosaic coloring sheets and then begin brainstorming and sketching an idea for their mosaic project. If they complete their sketch they will begin their mosaic by creating a border and outlining their picture.


 

 
3rd Grade-
The students will review how to use and blend oil pastels. They will then review the project requirements and continue adding and blending oil pastels. If the students finish the project, they will begin discussing symmetry and start symmetry packet.

 


4th Grade-
The students will review the Elements of Art. They will complete Elements of Art packet. They will review the project requirements and then begin the project by creatively incorporating the Elements of Art into a variety of shapes.

 


5th Grade-
The students will continue adding details and shading their Rope/Ribbon project.  Students who finish the project will be introduced to basic weaving techniques and create paper weaving.

 


6th Grade-
The students will review greeting card design techniques. They will brainstorm and develop 4 thumbnail sketches of holiday card ideas. They will be given demonstration of how to transfer their design to foam and properly print their card.

Friday November 13th – Thursday November 19th




Kindergarten-
Smith-
The students will review the proper way to use and care for scissors and glue sticks. They will finish cutting out and gluing shapes from worksheet. They will then follow along to cut various lines to create shapes of different sizes. They will glue down shapes.

Green and Potts- The students will discuss facial features and how to draw different types of facial features. The students will follow along to practice drawing different silly monsters using a variety of facial features. The students will draw their favorite monster shape on the previously painted purple paper, cut out the head shape, and glue down on another piece of paper. They will begin adding in facial features and details.

 

1st Grade-
The students will learn about the artist Paul Klee. They will view his abstract artwork. They will discuss how you can create abstract artwork by drawing things realistically, but placing them in unrealistic settings. The students will practice drawing a variety of animals.

The students will finish painting their underwater scene before viewing the PowerPoint.   


2nd Grade-
The students will be introduced to the Ancient Roman civilization. They will learn about their art and culture. The students will learn about their techniques used to create elaborate mosaics. The students will learn the process of making mosaics. The students will complete the Mosaic coloring sheets and then begin brainstorming and sketching an idea for their mosaic project.
Any student who is not finished decorating their Egyptian Collar will do so first.

 


3rd Grade-
The students will review how to use and blend oil pastels. The students will finish their oil pastel practice exercises. They will then review the project requirements, sketch their project idea, and begin adding and blending oil pastels.

 


4th Grade-
The students will review the Elements of Art. They will complete Elements of Art packet. They will be given the project requirements, begin brainstorming ideas for the project, and start sketching.

 

5th Grade-
The students will continue adding details and shading their Rope/Ribbon project.  

 
 


6th Grade-
The students will finish and hand in their Illuminated Name project. The students will be given introduction into greeting card design. They will brainstorm and develop 4 thumbnail sketches of holiday card ideas.

Kindergarten-
Smith-
The students will review the proper way to use and care for scissors. They will follow along to draw and cut various lines and shapes and then practice gluing down to create project.

Green and Potts- The students will review painting procedures and then use red and blue paint to mix and create purple. They will paint their entire paper purple in preparation for the project. The class will then practice drawing different facial features.
**Students may bring in a smock or old t-shirt to wear as a smock.

 


1st Grade-
The students will review the project requirements and finish coloring. They will learn how to create a crayon resist and how to properly use watercolor paint. The students will paint the ocean background.  


2nd Grade-
The students will review the Egyptian Collar project requirements. The students will finish decorating, painting, and adding glitter to their project. The students will begin Mosaic coloring sheets.  

 

3rd Grade-
The students will be given demonstration of how to use and blend oil pastels. The students will practice blending using the oil pastels by drawing and shading in a pipe drawing. If time allows, they will begin sketching idea for the project.

 


4th Grade-
The students will then begin discussing the Elements of Art though sketchbook assignment and Powerpoint. They will complete Elements of Art packet. They will begin brainstorming ideas for the project.

 


5th Grade-
The students will complete rope and ribbon packet and begin brainstorming ideas for the project. When ready, they will begin project.

 
 


6th Grade-
The students will review the Illuminated Name project requirements. They will choose their best idea and begin the final copy, trace with Sharpie, and begin coloring in.
