*Art at NSE with Mrs. Zink*

Below is my weekly schedule so you can see which rotation day your child has art class. Each week I will give an overview of what students will be learning and creating in art class. I will also include relevant images, information, and links to additional resources. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns!!

Wed. 10/24 (Day 1)-Tues.10/30 (Day 5)


Kindergarten
Mixing Orange-Fall Tree

The students will follow along to name and draw the parts of a tree. The students will practice first, then draw and color final copy. Once they are done coloring in the fall tree completely, they will review what two primary colors they can mix to make orange, then they will learn painting techniques to create the look of leaves. The students will mix and paint red, orange, and yellow leave onto their fall tree.





1st Grade
Abstract Watercolor
The students will learn about Analogous Colors and then practice using different sets of analogous colors. They will learn about the connection between art and music and the artist Kandinsky. The students will decide what set of analogous colors to use for their painting. They will learn various watercolor techniques and then create an abstract watercolor using an analogous color scheme while listening to and being influenced by music.

2nd Grade
Egyptian Art
The students will review information on Egyptian Art and Culture. They will learn about Hieroglyphics. They will practice drawing pictures, objects, and symbols from the Egyptian Culture, including writing their name in Hieroglyphics. Once their practice packet is complete they will draw, sharpie, and color their hieroglyphics onto gold paper. They will cut edges with fancy scissors and glue onto black paper.
Once their Hieroglyphic Name is complete, they will cut, color, and decorate Egyptian Collars.

3rd Grade
Eric Carle Texture

The students will use paint and various tools to paint textures onto their animal. Once dry, they will re-sharpie and then cut out. They will develop a name for their animal and write it on the back.

4th Grade
Realistic Landscape
The students will review colored pencil techniques and finish packet. When finished, they will apply techniques to their realistic landscape.

5th Grade
Printmaking
The students will be introduced to printmaking with a Monoprint. The students will learn techniques and then create their own Monoprint using markers on the table. 




6th Grade
Precious/Ferocious Creatures
The students will sharpie and color in their designs.

The students will finish their Zentangle Designs. When finished, they will mount on colorful construction paper. They will then develop ideas for PRecious/Ferocious Creature.

Wed. 10/10 (Day 1)-Tues.10/16 (Day 5)


Kindergarten
The Primary Colors

*Frushon and Borden*
The students will review the Primary Colors. They will learn what is special about them and then practice writing the color words and coloring and mixing with crayons.  The students will complete packet. The students will learn project requirements and discuss how shapes can overlap. They will use shape tracers to trace overlapping shapes on their paper and then color in using the Primary Colors and mixing to make the Secondary Colors.

The students will then about Abstract Art. They will view examples and then practice drawing a flower in a realistic way and then in an abstract way.The students will then learn about Analogous Colors and then practice using different sets of analogous colors.

They will sketch animals that they might want to use in their project and trace onto white paper. They will trace with Sharpie and brainstorm what textures they would use for their animal. 
They will use paint and various tools to paint textures onto their animal.
