Below is my weekly schedule so you can see which rotation day your child has art class. Each week I will give an overview of what students will be learning and creating in art class. I will also include relevant images, information, and links to additional resources. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns!!

Kindergarten
Warm and Cool Colored Hearts:
The students will learn about the warm and cool colors. They will demonstrate their knowledge through completion of a coloring sheet utilizing the warm and cool colors.
When finished the packet they will review how to properly trace a pattern and trace a variety of hearts on their papers. They will use warm colors only to color in with crayons.
They will review how to create a crayon resist. They will paint the background using watercolors and cool colors only.




1st Grade
Warm and Cool Colors:
The students will learn about the Warm and Cool colors. They will draw and color examples. They will learn about the artist Friedrich Hundertwasser. They will brainstorm ideas for the project.



2nd Grade
Ancient Roman Mosaic:
The students will learn about the Ancient Roman people and specifically about their use of Mosaic techniques. The students will complete color by number and then compare the techniques.
The students will then brainstorm and sketch their idea for the Moasic project. They will trace their idea onto the final paper.
They will learn how to carefully add glue and colored paper to create a mosaic.



3rd Grade
Asymmetrical Winter Landscape:
The students will follow along to practice drawing a landscape that has Asymmetrical balance. They will then re-draw the landscape using chalk on construction paper. They will learn and utilize blending techniques. They will add glitter as a finishing touch.





4th Grade
The Principles of Design:
The students will review the Principles of Design. They will complete packet.  Once the packet is complete, they will brainstorm and sketch project ideas on the white boards. The students will then trace final copy and begin outlining and coloring.
 



5th Grade
Self-Portrait:
The students will finish Op Art projects. The remainder of the class will begin learning how to draw facial features. They will follow along with videos to learn the basic steps and the continue adding details and shading in.





6th Grade
Monochromatic Painting:

The students will be introduced to painting techniques. They will practice painting inside the lines using both round and flat brushes. They will then learn about tints and shades and how to mix them. They will complete worksheets by mixing value scales made up of tints and shades.

Kindergarten

Matisse Collage (Geometric and Organic Shapes):
The students will review Geometric and Organic Shapes. The students will learn about the artist Matisse and his use of collage. The students will begin their own collage by drawing, cutting out, and gluing down colorful geometric shapes.
Once all of their geometric shapes have been glued down, they will draw, cut and glue down organic shapes using black and white paper only.


2nd Grade
Ancient Roman Mosaic:
The students will learn about the Ancient Roman people and specifically about their use of Mosaic techniques. The students will complete color by number and then compare the techniques.
The students will then brainstorm and sketch their idea for the Moasic project. They will trace their idea onto the final paper.




3rd Grade

The students will finish Op Art projects. The classes will then be split into two groups and begin working on two different projects: Self-Portrait and Oaxacan Animal Sculptures. They will be introduced to each project and begin either practicing facial features or sketching animal ideas.   



6th Grade

One Point Perspective:
The students will finish drawing final copy of perspective project and then add color.   

If any classes completely finish their perspective projects, they will be introduced to Value, Tints, and Shades. They will learn how to mix tints and shades using paint.

Thurs. Feb. 2nd -Thurs. Feb 9th
2 Hour Data Delay on Wed. 2/8/17-Non-Rotation Day


Kindergarten
Evergreen Tree (Mixing Green):
The students will review painting procedures and the primary and secondary colors. They will mix yellow and blue to make green paint and paint their entire paper green. They will then use the white boards to practice the basic shapes of an evergreen tree. Once the papers are dry, they will draw an evergreen tree on the paper, cut it out, and glue down onto blue paper. If time allows, they will paint white snow on their tree.


1st Grade
Matisse Collage (Geometric and Organic Shapes):
The students will be introduced to Geometric and Organic Shapes. The students will practice drawing both types of shapes. They will complete worksheet.


2nd Grade
Coil Pot/Mosaic:
The students will review basic painting procedures and then paint their coil pots. If time remains, they will complete color by number coloring page as introduction to next unit.



3rd Grade
Asymmetrical Winter Landscape:
The students will review symmetry and then be introduced to Asymmetry. They will view examples and then practice drawing examples of Asymmetry. The students will complete packet.





4th Grade
The Elements of Art:
The students will add finishing touches to their Elements of Art project and hand in.
 


5th Grade
Op Art:
The students will review the Op art project requirements and finish sketching idea. They will draw final copy and add color.  



6th Grade
One Point Perspective:
The students will finish drawing final copy of perspective project and then add color.
