The students will review emotions and the colors and facial expressions associated with each emotion. They will use their completed facial expression worksheet to assist them in drawing 3 emoji faces and create three complete sentences that go together to make a story. They will color the faces with the matching color.
The class will then discuss book cover illustrations and how the cover can show the mood or emotion of the story through pictures and colors. The students will sketch idea for their cover and then start final copy.

The students will be given demonstration how to create a grid drawing. They will practice on a cartoon picture, then on a more complicated realistic picture that must be shaded.
