Below is my weekly schedule so you can see which rotation day your child has art class. Each week I will give an overview of what students will be learning and creating in art class. I will also include relevant images, information, and links to additional resources. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns!!

12/17/12 (Day 1) through 12/21/12 (Day 5)


Below you will find a brief description of what each grade level will be completing in art class this week along with any important vocabulary and/or artists.

Kindergarten (Potts-Day 1, Kaminsky-Day 3, Bernosky-Day 4, and Frushon-Day 5)

Potts:
The students will review the parts of a face and how to make a funny face. The students will follow along to draw, cut, and glue their monster’s eyes, nose, and mouth and then add in details with markers.

 

Kaminsky:
The students will review mixing colors and recognize the primary and secondary colors. The students will use their previously painted paper to draw, cut and glue out an evergreen tree.

Bernosky:
Dress for Mess!!! The students will be painting this week!!! You can send them with an old t-shirt to use as a smock or simply just don’t send them in their nicest newest clothes! Thanks!!
The students will discuss what two primary colors make the secondary color of GREEN. The students will use those two colors to mix and paint their paper an even green color.

 

Frushon:
The students will review the parts of a face and how to make a funny face. The students will follow along to draw, cut, and glue a monster head, ears, and nose out of their previously painted purple paper.

1st Grade (Bridy-Day 1, Burns-Day 2, and Cooper-Day 4)


The students will be creating a Christmas tree by drawing, cutting and gluing basic shapes.

 

2nd Grade (Bell-Day 1, Schalles-Day 2, Ressler-Day 3, and Corinchock-Day 5)


The students will review the process of making a mosaic and continue cutting and gluing construction paper border and outlining their image. They will then begin adding in colored pieces and their backgrounds.

 

 

3rd Grade (Shadle-Day 2. Laudeman-Day 3, and Selgrade-Day 5)

 

The students will review the process of making a mosaic. The students will continue cutting and gluing pieces onto their Mosaic Leaf project.

 

 

 

4th Grade (Nestor-Day 1, Herring-Day 2, and Burda-Day 3)

 


The students will add in animals and plants to their jungle landscape and begin outlining with Sharpie.

The students will begin coloring with colored pencils.

 

 

 

 

 



5th Grade (Kempsey-Day 3 and Wolfe-Day 4)
 

 

The students will review the process of making Paper beads and continue creating various types of paper beads. The students will begin brainstorming the piece of jewelry they would like to make with their beads.

 

 

 



6th Grade (Ney-Day 1, Adams-Day 2, Hysock-Day 3, and Kessler-Day 5)




 

The students will finish outlining their Word Art projects and then color with colored pencils. Any student who finishes and hand in their project will begin working on a one-point perspective worksheet.

If the whole class is finished the Word Art project, the students will learn about one-point perspective. The students will follow along with demonstration and then continue practicing by completing perspective worksheet.

The students will be painting the water of their underwater scene. The previously colored plants and animals will not be affected, resulting in a crayon resist.

The students will review mosaic artwork and continue sketching their project ideas. The students will review the process of making a mosaic and begin cutting and gluing.

The students will be introduced to Paper Beads made by various cultures in Africa. The students will recognize the significance of the production and sale of the beads. The students will learn the process of making the beads and begin creating various types of paper beads.

 

 



6th Grade (Ney-Day 1, Adams-Day 2, Hysock-Day 3, and Kessler-Day 5)



The students will finish outlining their Word Art projects and then color with colored pencils. Any student who finishes and hand in their project will begin working on a one-point perspective worksheet.

The students will outline with Sharpie and then color in with crayons.

The students will review the artwork of Henri Rousseau.
The students will discuss his life and artwork.
The students will discuss animals and plants found in the jungle.
The students will apply information to complete worksheet on the layers of the jungle and animals found in the different layers.

The students will follow along with handout to learn how to draw various pieces of ribbon.

The students will finish the ribbon worksheet and then practice drawing a ribbon from life.

The students will recognize the project requirements and begin sketching out ideas.

 

 



6th Grade (Ney-Day 1, Adams-Day 2, Hysock-Day 3, and Kessler-Day 5)

The students will finish outlining and coloring in their Illuminated Names and hand in.

The students will be introduced to WordArt examples. The students will finish Word Art worksheet.

The students will recognize the project requirements and begin developing four ideas.
