Below is my weekly schedule so you can see which rotation day your child has art class. Each week I will give an overview of what students will be learning and creating in art class. I will also include relevant images, information, and links to additional resources. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns!!

Friday 12/7 (Day 6)-Thurs. 12/20 (Day 5)


Kindergarten
Mixing Purple-Silly Monster/Grapes

The students will follow detailed instructions to draw, cut, and glue various parts of the two projects in one. The painted purple paper will be used to draw and cut out the shape for their monster and also used to trace and cut circles to make the grapes. Facial features will be drawn, cut out, and glued down to create their monster and the purple circles will be cut and glued onto the background to form a grape bunch. 





1st Grade
Realistic Dessert in the style of Wayne Thiebaud
The students will define realistic and abstract artwork. The students will view examples of both and compare. The students will look at the art of Wayne Thiebaud. They will learn techniques to create realistic art. They will follow along and practice drawing realistic objects on the whiteboards.  
  In the following class They will again practice following the techniques to create a realistic dessert. When they have achieved a successful drawing on the whiteboard they will trace onto the final paper. They will sharpie and color in realistically.  







2nd Grade
Ancient Greek Vases
The students will be introduced to the art and culture of the Ancient Greek people. The students will learn and practice the concepts of symmetry and pattern. They will complete packet. The students will learn how to make their own scratch art by using oil pastels and painting over it with black. They will trace large vase shape and then scratch detailed patterns in the style of Greek art.   





3rd Grade
Symmetrical Paint Blot Creature

The students will discuss symmetry and how to create symmetrical shapes. The students will complete symmetry packet. The students will be introduced to paint blot art. They will learn the technique and create three paint blots. They will then use markers to add details and create a paint blot creature.

4th Grade
The Elements of Art
The students will learn about each element of art and then complete the corresponding page within the packet. The students will learn how to incorporate all 7 elements of art into one piece of artwork. 







5th Grade
Printmaking/Op Art

The students will be given introduction to two projects. As needed, the class will be split or work on different projects at different times due to large number of students in each class. 
The students will learn about Op Art and follow along to complete worksheet. They will then brainstorm and sketch ideas for the project and then begin final copy. It will then get sharpied and colored in.
The students will learn about printmaking and brainstorm and sketch ideas. Their final idea will be traced and transferred onto foam. They will learn the steps to print their design. They will create multiple prints using a variety of colors and techniques. 




6th Grade
Lettering
The students will discuss different types of lettering. They will complete packet which will give them the opportunity to practice a variety of lettering types and styles. They will choose their project idea and begin final copy. 
When the Lettering project is complete the students will begin working on their skills and techniques through painting exercises.

Friday 11/30 (Day 1)-Thurs. 12/6 (Day 5)


Kindergarten

The students will review Geometric and Organic shapes along with the Primary and Secondary Colors. They will finish drawing, cutting, and gluing their Geometric Shapes using Primary Colors only. They will then draw, cut, and glue their Organic shapes using only the Secondary Colors. Both collages will then be mounted on black paper. 






2nd Grade

The students are to brainstorm and sketch an idea for the printmaking project. The students will then trace and transfer their design onto the printing foam. The students will learn printmaking techniques and then begin making prints with their designs. 




6th Grade

The students will discuss different types of lettering. They will complete packet which will give them the opportunity to practice a variety of lettering types and styles. They will choose their project idea and begin final copy.

Kindergarten
Mixing Purple-Silly Monster/Grapes

The students will review the primary colors and how they are mixed to create the secondary colors. They will review how to mix purple. They will work as a table to mix the paint and then paint their entire paper purple. They will then decide as a class if they would like to make a silly monster or a branch with grapes on it for the project. They will practice drawing monster facial features or branches and leaves. The following class, the students will begin drawing on the back of their purple painted paper and then cut and glue. 





1st Grade
Geometric and Organic Shapes Collage
The students will learn about Geometric and Organic shapes. They will practice the shapes through completion of worksheet. They will then review the primary and secondary colors. They will learn a bout Henri Matisse and his use of collage techniques. They will then begin cutting and gluing their collage, using primary colors when cutting geometric shapes, and secondary colors when cutting organic shapes. 







2nd Grade
Egyptian Art
The students will review Egyptian jewelry. They will brainstorm ideas for their own Egyptian Collar.  They will then cut, paint, and decorate their Egyptian Collars.

3rd Grade
Still Life Gourds

The students will discuss how to draw a still life using pumpkins and gourds. Tey will sketch on the whiteboards. When they have a nice sktech, they will trace onto the final paper using thin sharpie. They will then learn watercolor and colored pencil techniques. They will color in the gourds and paint the background.

4th Grade
Assemblage Sculpture in the style of Louise Nevelson
The students will review assemblage sculpture and the project requirements. They will continue arranging their chosen objects and securely glue down onto cardboard. They will then choose their color and begin painting the entire sculpture.

5th Grade
Printmaking
The students will be introduced to printmaking with a Monoprint. The students will learn techniques and then create their own Monoprint using markers on the table. 
Once they have created at least one successful Monoprint, they will brainstorm and sketch ideas for the printmaking project. The students will then trace and transfer their design onto the printing foam. 




6th Grade

Wed. 10/24 (Day 1)-Tues.10/30 (Day 5)


Kindergarten
Mixing Orange-Fall Tree

The students will follow along to name and draw the parts of a tree. The students will practice first, then draw and color final copy. Once they are done coloring in the fall tree completely, they will review what two primary colors they can mix to make orange, then they will learn painting techniques to create the look of leaves. The students will mix and paint red, orange, and yellow leave onto their fall tree.





1st Grade
Abstract Watercolor
The students will learn about Analogous Colors and then practice using different sets of analogous colors. They will learn about the connection between art and music and the artist Kandinsky. The students will decide what set of analogous colors to use for their painting. They will learn various watercolor techniques and then create an abstract watercolor using an analogous color scheme while listening to and being influenced by music.

2nd Grade
Egyptian Art
The students will review information on Egyptian Art and Culture. They will learn about Hieroglyphics. They will practice drawing pictures, objects, and symbols from the Egyptian Culture, including writing their name in Hieroglyphics. Once their practice packet is complete they will draw, sharpie, and color their hieroglyphics onto gold paper. They will cut edges with fancy scissors and glue onto black paper.
Once their Hieroglyphic Name is complete, they will cut, color, and decorate Egyptian Collars.

3rd Grade
Eric Carle Texture

The students will use paint and various tools to paint textures onto their animal. Once dry, they will re-sharpie and then cut out. They will develop a name for their animal and write it on the back.

4th Grade
Realistic Landscape
The students will review colored pencil techniques and finish packet. When finished, they will apply techniques to their realistic landscape.

5th Grade

The students will be introduced to printmaking with a Monoprint. The students will learn techniques and then create their own Monoprint using markers on the table. 




6th Grade
