Days 1-5
(September 29-October 5)

Kindergarten-
The students review the primary colors and the artist Piet Mondrian, who uses the primary colors in his artwork. The students will learn how to properly trace patterns and then create a picture using squares and rectangles. The students will discuss proper ways to use paint and paintbrushes. If time allows, the students will begin painting their shapes.
***Students may bring in a smock, paint shirt or old t-shirt to wear over top of their clothes while painting.  I do have a limited number of paint shirts available for those who do not bring in a paint shirt.
Here are some resources I use in class to help the students learn and remember the primary colors!

1st Grade-
The students will review realistic and abstract artwork. They will learn about the artist Joan Miro. They will discuss his abstract artwork and then complete coloring sheet by coloring in abstract shapes.
