*Art at NSE with Mrs. Zink*

Below is my weekly schedule so you can see which rotation day your child has art class. Each week I will give an overview of what students will be learning and creating in art class. I will also include relevant images, information, and links to additional resources. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns!!

Kindergarten
Evergreen Tree (Mixing Green):
The students will review painting procedures and the primary and secondary colors. They will mix yellow and blue to make green paint and paint their entire paper green. They will then use the white boards to practice the basic shapes of an evergreen tree. Once the papers are dry, they will draw an evergreen tree on the paper, cut it out, and glue down onto blue paper. If time allows, they will paint white snow on their tree.


1st Grade
Realistic Underwater Scene:
The students will review the project requirements. They will pick their favorite underwater plants and animals and draw on paper, trace with sharpie, and color in. They will then use watercolors to paint in the blue background of the ocean.

2nd Grade
Symmetrical Greek Pottery:
The students will be given demonstration on how to create a coil pot of out air-dry clay. The students will utilize those techniques to create their own unique coil pot. Once dry, they will paint their coil pots.





3rd Grade
Symmetrical Name Alien:
The students will review the project requirements. They will finish tracing their name in sharpie and then begin creating their alien by adding in details. They will color in with markers and then add in a background.





4th Grade
The Elements of Art:
The students will add finishing touches to their Elements of Art project and hand in.
 

5th Grade
Op Art:
The students will finish Op Art worksheet and then research and sketch ideas for the project. If ready, they will begin the project.  



6th Grade
One Point Perspective:
The students will finish preliminary sketches and assignments and then decide what shapes they will create for the project. They will begin one-point perspective project.

Kindergarten
Silly Monster (Mixing Purple):
The students will review the parts of the face and practice various facial features by drawing monster faces on the whiteboards. The students will draw the shape of their monster head on the back of their purple paper. They will then cut out their monster head shape and glue down on white paper. The students will draw each facial feature individually and cut out and glue down onto their monster. They will use markers to add details.



1st Grade
Realistic Underwater Scene:
The students will review information on Paul Klee. They will discuss plants and animals and determine which ones live in the ocean. The students will practice various plants and animals on the whiteboards and learn techniques to better draw animals. They will pick their favorite underwater plants and animals and draw on paper, trace with sharpie, and color in.



2nd Grade
Symmetrical Greek Pottery:
The students will review how to create a symmetrical vase by only drawing half of it on folded paper and then cutting it out. The students will make 3 vases and then decorate with Greek Patterns. They will trace with Sharpie, then glue their 3 vases down on paper. They will learn how to draw and a shadow to make their vases look more realistic.


3rd Grade
Symmetrical Name Alien:
The students will be introduced to Symmetry and Asymmetry. They will view examples and draw a variety of examples on their white boards. The students will complete symmetry packet. The students will use white boards to practice writing their names in cursive.




4th Grade
The Elements of Art:
The students will be given the project requirements. They will draw 7 shapes on their paper and then designeach one with one of the elements of art.
 


5th Grade
Op Art:
The students will be introduced to Op Art. They will learn techniques to make a precise optical illusion using math and rulers. They will follow along to complete Op Art worksheet.



6th Grade
One Point Perspective:
The students will be introduced to one-point perspective. They will view examples and learn vocabulary terms. They will follow along to create a variety of shapes in perspective. They will complete practice drawing and worksheet.
