*Art at NSE with Mrs. Zink*

Below is my weekly schedule so you can see which rotation day your child has art class. Each week I will give an overview of what students will be learning and creating in art class. I will also include relevant images, information, and links to additional resources. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns!!

3/5/13 (Day 1) through 3/11/13 (Day 5)


Below you will find a brief description of what each grade level will be completing in art class this week along with any important vocabulary and/or artists.
**Parents-Please check any websites I may include yourself before letting your child investigate the site. Thanks!!


Kindergarten (Potts-Day 1, Kaminsky-Day 3, Bernosky-Day 4, and Frushon-Day 5)

The students will review their colors and learn about the order of a rainbow. The students will use the acronym Roy G. Biv to help remember the order. The students will improve their coloring skills by completing rainbow coloring packet.

 

1st Grade (Bridy-Day 1, Burns-Day 2, and Cooper-Day 4)

The students will be introduced to warm and cool colors. The students will learn easy ways to help remember their warm and cool colors. The students will apply knowledge to warm and cool coloring packet.  

 

 


2nd Grade (Bell-Day 1, Schalles-Day 2, Ressler-Day 3, and Corinchock-Day 5)

The students will review the project requirements. The students will finish practicing their vase shapes and then learn how to create a symmetrical vase by folding the paper in half. The students will cut out 3 large vase shapes and then use Greek patterns to decorate them. The students will glue down the vases and learn how to make the vases look three-dimensional.  


 

 

 

 

 

 

3rd Grade (Shadle-Day 2. Laudeman-Day 3, and Selgrade-Day 5)

The students will review the process of shading. The students will learn how to draw and shade realistic three-dimensional pipes. The students will finish the 3D pipe worksheet. If students finish the worksheet they will begin experimenting with oil pastels.

 


4th Grade (Nestor-Day 1, Herring-Day 2, and Burda-Day 3)


The students will review project requirements and begin developing ideas and sketches. When the sketches are complete they will begin adding and blending pastels.

**Dress for Mess!!***
The next few weeks we will be working with pastels, which can get messy. Please consider not sending your child to school with their newest or whitest clothing on their Art day. Thanks!!

 

 



5th Grade (Kempsey-Day 3 and Wolfe-Day 4)
The students will review Op Art. The students will review the project requirements and begin developing ideas and sketches. The students will begin final copy when they have finished sketches.



 

6th Grade (Ney-Day 1, Adams-Day 2, Hysock-Day 3, and Kessler-Day 5)


The students will be introduced to Hand Sewing. The students will learn three basic stitches. The students will read handout and answer questions. The students will begin Sewing Exercise #1-Running Stitch.

 

***Kessler’s class (Day 5)
The final copy of your CD cover design is due on Monday March 11th!!!!!
It must be completely colored and finished. Front cover, back cover, and inside lyrics for extra credit.
You will automatically have points deducted if it is not handed in as soon as you walk in the classroom on Monday!!!
