*Art at NSE with Mrs. Zink*

Below is my weekly schedule so you can see which rotation day your child has art class. Each week I will give an overview of what students will be learning and creating in art class. I will also include relevant images, information, and links to additional resources. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns!!

3/26/13 (Day 1) through 4/4/13 (Day 5)
*No School for students 3/29-4/2
 
Below you will find a brief description of what each grade level will be completing in art class this week along with any important vocabulary and/or artists.
**Parents-Please check any websites I may include yourself before letting your child investigate the site. Thanks!!


Kindergarten (Potts-Day 1, Kaminsky-Day 3, Bernosky-Day 4, and Frushon-Day 5)

The students will review their colors and the acronym Roy G. Biv. The students will review landscapes. The students will recognize that objects get smaller as they get farther away from us. The students will follow along to create a landscape with a rainbow incorporated. The students will color in using Roy G. Biv to help remember the colors.


The classes that finish their Rainbow Landscapes will be introduced to rulers and how to use them. The students will practice using rulers to make straight lines and to connect two dots.
 
 
1st Grade (Bridy-Day 1, Burns-Day 2, and Cooper-Day 4)

The students will review warm and cool colors. The students will review oil pastels and how to blend them. The students will practice blending oil pastels using warm and cool colors.
The classes that finish blending oil pastels will review Roy G. Biv and practice blending a rainbow.
 
 
2nd Grade (Bell-Day 1, Schalles-Day 2, Ressler-Day 3, and Corinchock-Day 5)

 The students will be introduced to Model Magic air-drying clay. The students will learn how to form coils to create a coil pot. The students will make their own Greek vase by making coils. 
If the coil pots are dry, the students will paint the vases.

3rd Grade (Shadle-Day 2. Laudeman-Day 3, and Selgrade-Day 5)
The students will review the process of blending using oil pastels. The students will complete two oil pastel blending exercises. The students will begin sketching ideas for the project and then use oil pastels to blend.




4th Grade (Nestor-Day 1, Herring-Day 2, and Burda-Day 3)

 The students will review different points of view. The students will view examples and learn how to draw objects zoomed in, from bird’s eye view, and worm’s eye view. The students will apply knowledge to point of view packet. After the Point of View packet is complete, the students will brainstorm, research, and sketch ideas for the Point of View project. After their sketch is approved, the students will begin on the final copy.

5th Grade (Kempsey-Day 3 and Wolfe-Day 4)
he students will be given demonstration of how to draw facial features. The students will use facial features packet and observation to draw and shade in 6 different eyes, noses, and mouths.
 
 

 6th Grade (Ney-Day 1, Adams-Day 2, Hysock-Day 3, and Kessler-Day 5)

The students will review the 3 basic stitches. The students will finish 3 sewing exercises.
The students will review the project requirements and sketch their idea (Sketchbook Assignment #12). If ready, the students will begin final sewing project, applying at least two of the practiced stitches.
