*Art at NSE with Mrs. Zink*

Below is my weekly schedule so you can see which rotation day your child has art class. Each week I will give an overview of what students will be learning and creating in art class. I will also include relevant images, information, and links to additional resources. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns!!

1/23/13 (Day 1) through 1/29/13 (Day 5)

 


Below you will find a brief description of what each grade level will be completing in art class this week along with any important vocabulary and/or artists.
**Parents-Please check any websites I may include yourself before letting your child investigate the site. Thanks!!


Kindergarten (Potts-Day 1, Kaminsky-Day 3, Bernosky-Day 4, and Frushon-Day 5)

Potts:
The students will be introduced to warm and cool colors. The students will view examples of each and then complete activity/worksheet in which they utilize the warm and cool colors.

Kaminsky:
The students will be introduced to warm and cool colors. The students will view examples of each and then complete activity/worksheet in which they utilize the warm and cool colors.

Bernosky:
The students will be introduced to warm and cool colors. The students will view examples of each and then complete activity/worksheet in which they utilize the warm and cool colors.

 

Frushon:
Dress for Mess!!! The students will be painting this week!!! You can send them with an old t-shirt to use as a smock or simply just don’t send them in their nicest newest clothes! Thanks!!
The students will discuss what two primary colors made the secondary color of GREEN. The students will review painting techniques and paint white to create a snowy scene.

 

 

 

1st Grade (Bridy-Day 1, Burns-Day 2, and Cooper-Day 4)

 

The students will review information on the artist Henri Matisse. The students will review geometric and organic shapes. The students will review the process of creating a collage and finish gluing down geometric shapes. The students will then begin drawing, cutting out, and gluing organic shapes on top of their geometric shapes.

 

 

 

 



2nd Grade (Bell-Day 1, Schalles-Day 2, Ressler-Day 3, and Corinchock-Day 5)

The students will be introduce to the vocabulary term of symmetry. The students will view examples within the classroom and in artwork. The students will apply knowledge to complete symmetry worksheet.

 

 

 

 

3rd Grade (Shadle-Day 2. Laudeman-Day 3, and Selgrade-Day 5)

 

 

The students will review the process of shading to achieve more three-dimensional looking objects. The students will view examples and learn the techniques. The students will apply knowledge to shading worksheet.

 

 

 

4th Grade (Nestor-Day 1, Herring-Day 2, and Burda-Day 3)

 

The students will review color mixing and blending. The students will learn techniques to mix and blend colors. The students will recognize warm and cool colors. The students will apply knowledge to worksheet on which they practice blending and mixing colors. If the class has extra time, the students will begin experimenting with chalk pastels.



5th Grade (Kempsey-Day 3 and Wolfe-Day 4)

 

The students will review the process of making Paper beads and continue creating various types of paper beads. The students will begin brainstorming the piece of jewelry they would like to make with their beads.

 

The students should have finished the required 15 beads by this week and will complete construction of their jewelry.

 

 

 

 


6th Grade (Ney-Day 1, Adams-Day 2, Hysock-Day 3, and Kessler-Day 5)

 

 

The students will review one-point perspective. The students will be given the perspective project requirements. The students will begin developing ideas for the project and then begin drawing.
