Kindergarten
Portraiture

The students will discuss the parts of the face and learn how to use basic lines, shapes, and even letters of the alphabet to assist them in drawing their facial features. They will practice on the white boards and then draw on worksheet.










1st Grade

Emotional Emoji’s

The students will be introduced to color and emotion in art. They will learn how certain colors can portray different moods. They will view examples and then complete worksheet in which they draw facial expressions and then use color to help show the emotion.

2nd Grade

Mosaic/Pointillism


The students will learn about two different artistic techniques. They will learn about Mosaics and how they were created by the Ancient Roman people. They will view various examples and then learn the process behind creating a mosaic. They will complete color by Number.

Next the students will be introduced to Pointillism and the artist Georges Seurat. The students will learn his technique and view examples. They will complete worksheet in which they practice using markers to create pointillism examples.



The students will sketch and develop ideas for the project then choose which technique they would like to use for the project. They will complete project either using construction paper pieces in the style of Mosaic or markers in the style of Pointillism.

3rd Grade

 

Asymmetry-Winter Landscape
The students will be introduced to asymmetry. They will discuss how it is different from symmetry. They will view and practice examples. They will complete asymmetry packet. The students will follow along to draw an asymmetrical winter landscape. 







4th Grade
The Principles of Design

The students will learn about the four Principles of Design: Balance, Movement, Pattern, and Variety. They will view various examples and then practice drawing examples on the whiteboards. They will then complete packet.

5th Grade
Drawing Facial Features/Self-Portrait



The students will be introduced to drawing facial features realistically and with value. They will work on sketches of eyes, noses, and mouths. They will then work on putting the facial features together on a face using correct proportion.





6th Grade

One-Point Perspective

The students will learn how to draw a variety of objects using one-point perspective. They will learn techniques to make their drawings look three-dimensional.
