Below is my weekly schedule so you can see which rotation day your child has art class. Each week I will give an overview of what students will be learning and creating in art class. I will also include relevant images, information, and links to additional resources. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns!!

Kindergarten-
Smith-
The students will review color mixing and their primary and secondary colors. They will finish coloring in their hearts that they traced last week. They will then use red and blue paint to mix the color purple. They will paint the background of their project using the purple paint.  

Green and Potts- The students will review Warm and Cool colors. They will finish coloring in their worksheets. They will then review how to properly trace heart patterns and fill their paper with hearts. They will then use warm colors only to color in the hearts.

 


1st Grade-
The students will review Geometric and Organic Shapes. The students will review information on the artist Henri Matisse. They will learn about his style and his use of shape and collage.  They will follow along to use colorful construction paper to draw, cut out, and glue down Geometric shapes onto their paper. If time allows, they will begin drawing, cutting, and gluing down Organic Shapes on top of their geometric shapes.




2nd Grade-
The students will review symmetry, pattern, and Ancient Greek culture and art. They will practice drawing Greek vases that have symmetry and pattern. They will then fold their paper in half, draw half of their chosen vase shape, and then cut out a total of 3 different vases. They will decorate the vases using creative patterns and then outline with Sharpie.


 

 
 
 
3rd Grade-
The students will review Radial Symmetry. The students will be given demonstration of how to create a Mandala by folding paper, drawing design in one section, and then transferring their design so that their project has radial symmetry.  

 

4th Grade-
Any remaining classes that have not finished the Principles of Design project will do so. The classes that are finished will be introduced to color and color blending and complete color blending packet. The students will then be introduced to chalk pastels. They will learn how to properly use and care pastels and then practice blending both warm and cool colors using the pastels.

 


5th Grade-
Any remaining student who has not handed in their weaving project must do so by this week to receive a grade. Any extra credit weavings will be accepted for an additional week.

The students will review Op Art. The students will follow along to create two Op art designs. They will begin researching/brainstorming/sketching ideas for the Op Art project.

 


6th Grade-
The students will review the project requirements and the project choices available to them. They will continue brainstorming and sketching ideas and then begin on final copy. The students need to make sure their picture is in perspective and also is in the style of surrealism.

Wednesday Feb. 3rd – Tuesday Feb.  9th



Kindergarten-
Smith-
The students will review color mixing and their primary and secondary colors. They will finish their evergreen trees by painting on the snow. The class will review how to use a pattern to trace shapes. They will trace a variety of heart shapes.

Green and Potts- They will review how to draw the basic parts of the face.  They will use a mirror to draw a self-portrait of themselves using the guidelines and techniques practiced.  They will use crayons to color in their self-portraits realistically.

 


1st Grade-
The students will be introduced to Geometric and Organic Shapes. They will view examples and then practice a variety of shapes. They will complete worksheet. The students will be introduced to the artist Matisse. They will learn about his style and his use of shape and collage.  




2nd Grade-
The students will review symmetry, pattern, and Ancient Greek culture and art. If not already complete, they will finish packet. They will practice drawing Greek vases that have symmetry and pattern.

 
 
 
 
 

3rd Grade-
