*Art at NSE with Mrs. Zink*

Below is my weekly schedule so you can see which rotation day your child has art class. Each week I will give an overview of what students will be learning and creating in art class. 9/3/14 (Day 1) through 9/9/14 (Day 5)

 

Below you will find a brief description of what each grade level will be completing in art class this week along with any important vocabulary, images, or artist information.
 

Kindergarten
(Evans-Day 1, Kaminsky-Day 3, Potts-Day 4,
Frushon-Day 5)

 

The students will complete SLO Pre-Test which will assess their basic art knowledge and skills. There is no preparation needed for this test, it is to help gauge their current ability level. The same exact test will be given at the end of the school year to determine each student’s progress. Some subjects covered on the test are: lines, shapes, colors, coloring skills, ability to draw self-portrait, and cutting and gluing skills.

 

 


1st Grade
(Bridy-Day 1, Burns-Day 2, and Cooper-Day 4)

The students will complete their first sketchbook assignment. The students will view a Power Point that shows various lines, shapes, and colors. The students will discuss how putting lines, shapes, and colors together make a complete picture. The students will complete Line, Shape, and Color Worksheet.  

 

 

 

 

 

2nd Grade
(Corinchock-Day 1, Schalles-Day 2, McCabe-Day 3, and
Bell-Day 5)

The students will be introduced to the Caves at Lascaux. The students will learn about the techniques and materials used to create the cave paintings. The students will view Power Point images and a virtual tour of the caves. They will begin worksheet.

3rd Grade
(Lynch-Day 2. Laudeman-Day 4, and
Selgrade-Day 5)

 

The students will complete their first sketchbook assignment. They will then be introduced to Texture. The students will view different types of texture, use adjectives to describe texture, and then find various textures around the classroom to create texture rubbings.  

 

 

4th Grade
(Nestor-Day 1, Herring-Day 2, and Moyer-Day 3)

The students will complete their first sketchbook assignment. The students will then be introduced to Landscapes. The students will learn about the foreground, middleground, and background of a landscape and qualities of each.  The students will complete Landscape worksheet.

5th Grade
(Houser-Day 3 and Connors-Day 4)

The students will complete their first sketchbook assignment. The students will be introduced to value and how it is used to make drawings look more realistic. The students will view examples and then begin value scale worksheet.  

 

 


 

 

 


 

6th Grade
(Ney-Day 1, Leibensperger-Day 2, Hysock-Day 3, and
Kessler-Day 5)

 

The students will complete their first sketchbook assignment. The students will discuss and view examples of different types of lines and patterns. The students will begin Line and Pattern worksheet.
