*Art at NSE with Mrs. Zink*

Below is my weekly schedule so you can see which rotation day your child has art class. Each week I will give an overview of what students will be learning and creating in art class. I will also include relevant images, information, and links to additional resources. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns!!

9/4/13 (Day 1) through 9/10/13 (Day 5)

 

 




Below you will find a brief description of what each grade level will be completing in art class this week along with any important vocabulary and/or artists.



 

Kindergarten
(Bernosky-Day 1, Kaminsky-Day 3, Potts-Day 4, and Frushon-Day 5)


The students will apply knowledge to complete sketchbook assignment. The will then review basic lines, shapes, and colors. The students will find and point out shapes, lines, and colors in various artworks. The students will review directional cues and practice various lines, shapes, and colors on the white board.

 

 

1st Grade
(Bridy-Day 1, Burns-Day 2, and Cooper-Day 4)


The students will apply knowledge to complete sketchbook assignment. The students will review basic lines, shapes, and colors. The students will recognize how the elements of art are used together to create art. The students will point out examples of elements being used together in artworks. The students will begin worksheet in which they review line, shape, and color, draw examples of each, and then use them all together to create a picture.

 

2nd Grade
(Corinchock-Day 1, Schalles-Day 2, McCabe-Day 3, and Bell-Day 5)


The students will apply knowledge to complete sketchbook assignment. The students will discuss art history and how art was made in the past. The students will learn about the Caves at Lascaux and discuss how the artists made the artwork and what materials were available to them. The students will view examples of the cave drawings and discuss what subject matter was drawn. The students will begin a worksheet on the Caves at Lascaux.

3rd Grade
(Lynch-Day 2. Laudeman-Day 4, and
Selgrade-Day 5)

 

The students will apply knowledge to complete sketchbook assignment. The class will discuss texture and view examples of different textures found in the classroom and in various artworks. The students will complete class activity in which they create texture rubbings of interesting textures from throughout the classroom.

 


 

 

4th Grade
(Nestor-Day 1, Herring-Day 2, and Moyer-Day 3)

The students will apply knowledge to complete sketchbook assignment. The students will define landscape, the parts of a landscape, and view examples of landscapes. The students will view landscape artwork and determine what makes a landscape successful. The students will apply knowledge learned to begin landscape worksheet.

5th Grade
(Houser-Day 3 and Connors-Day 4)

The students will apply knowledge to complete sketchbook assignment. The students will be shown examples of value and discuss how value helps objects appear realistic and three-dimensional. The students will begin a value study worksheet using the knowledge from the instruction.

6th Grade
(Ney-Day 1, Leibensperger-Day 2, Hysock-Day 3, and Kessler-Day 5)

 

The students will apply knowledge to complete sketchbook assignment. The students will discuss line and pattern. The students will view examples of how line and pattern are used in artworks. The students will complete worksheet using information learned.
