Below is my weekly schedule so you can see which rotation day your child has art class. Each week I will give an overview of what students will be learning and creating in art class. I will also include relevant images, information, and links to additional resources. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns!!

4/26/13 (Day 1) through 5/2/13 (Day 5)


Below you will find a brief description of what each grade level will be completing in art class this week along with any important vocabulary and/or artists.

Kindergarten (Potts-Day 1, Kaminsky-Day 3, Bernosky-Day 4, and Frushon-Day 5)


The students will be introduced to texture. The students will view examples from around the classroom and within artwork. The students will be able to use adjectives to describe various textures. The students will find unique textures around the classroom and create texture rubbings of what they find.


1st Grade (Bridy-Day 1, Burns-Day 2, and Cooper-Day 4)

The students will be introduced to various drawing techniques in order to achieve a more realistic drawing. The students will follow along to create a detailed flower drawing.


2nd Grade (Bell-Day 1, Schalles-Day 2, Ressler-Day 3, and Corinchock-Day 5)

The students will review the primary, secondary, and intermediate colors. The students will review analogous colors and complete analogous drawing. The students will discuss warm and cool colors and create warm and cool drawing.

3rd Grade (Shadle-Day 2. Laudeman-Day 3, and Selgrade-Day 5)



The students will review analogous colors and complete analogous drawing. The students will review how to use a ruler and divide their paper into 4 equal rectangles.


4th Grade (Nestor-Day 1, Herring-Day 2, and Burda-Day 3)


The students will review Pop Art and various Pop Art Artists. The students will discuss “popular culture” and be able to apply to drawing. The students will review how to use a ruler and use ruler to divide paper into 4 equal rectangles. The students will be given project requirements and begin sketching ideas.


5th Grade (Kempsey-Day 3 and Wolfe-Day 4)

 

The students will finish their facial feature drawings. The students will then review the project requirements and then begin drawing their self-portrait from their photograph.

 
 

6th Grade (Ney-Day 1, Adams-Day 2, Hysock-Day 3, and Kessler-Day 5)

 

The students will finish and hand in sewing projects.


The students who have finished the project will begin sketching facial features and complete a series of eye, nose, and mouth drawings.

4/19/13 (Day 1) through 4/25/13 (Day 5)

Kindergarten (Potts-Day 1, Kaminsky-Day 3, Bernosky-Day 4, and Frushon-Day 5)


The students will review 2-D and 3-D. The students will practice folding and curling paper strips.

The students will use different folds and curls to create a 3D paper sculpture out of construction paper.

 

 

1st Grade (Bridy-Day 1, Burns-Day 2, and Cooper-Day 4)

The students will review artwork that shows emotion. The students will point out specific objects, people, and colors used. The students will make connection between color and mood/emotion.
The students will draw a portrait from the shoulders up and then adding color and emotion to the portrait using chalk pastels.

 





 

 

2nd Grade (Bell-Day 1, Schalles-Day 2, Ressler-Day 3, and Corinchock-Day 5)

The students will finish painting their Model Magic Coil Pots. The students will then continue working on a color review packet in which they are coloring and mixing using the primary, secondary, and intermediate colors. The students will be introduced to analogous colors and complete analogous drawing.

 

 

 

3rd Grade (Shadle-Day 2. Laudeman-Day 3, and Selgrade-Day 5)

 

 

The students will complete color review packet. The students will review analogous colors and complete analogous drawing. The students will review how to use a ruler.

 

 

 

4th Grade (Nestor-Day 1, Herring-Day 2, and Burda-Day 3)

 

 

The students will be introduced to Pop Art. The students will view examples and learn about various Pop Art Artists. The students will discuss “popular culture” and be able to apply to drawing.

 

5th Grade (Kempsey-Day 3 and Wolfe-Day 4)

 

 

The students will finish their facial feature drawings. The students will then review the project requirements and then begin drawing their self-portrait from their photograph.

The students will complete and hand in their Point of View project. The students who finish will begin reading information on the Pop Art Movement.

5th Grade (Kempsey-Day 3 and Wolfe-Day 4)

 

The students will finish their facial feature drawings. The students will then review the project requirements and then begin drawing their self-portrait from their photograph.

 

 

6th Grade (Ney-Day 1, Adams-Day 2, Hysock-Day 3, and Kessler-Day 5)

 

 

The students will review the project requirements and sketch their idea (Sketchbook Assignment #12). If ready, the students will continue on final sewing project, applying at least two of the practiced stitches.

If the class completes the sewing project, they will begin discussing tints and shades.

4/5/13 (Day 1) through 4/11/13 (Day 5)

Below you will find a brief description of what each grade level will be completing in art class this week along with any important vocabulary and/or artists.

Kindergarten (Potts-Day 1, Kaminsky-Day 3, Bernosky-Day 4, and Frushon-Day 5)


The students will be introduced to rulers and how to properly use them. The students will practice using rulers to make straight lines and to connect two dots. The students will create an abstract drawing and then color in the different shapes they created.

If the class finishes their ruler drawings, they will begin discussing 2-D and 3-D. The class will discuss the differences and the students should be able to point out examples. The students will discuss types of lines and different ways to fold and cut paper.


1st Grade (Bridy-Day 1, Burns-Day 2, and Cooper-Day 4)

The students will review Roy G. Biv and finish coloring their rainbow. The students will be shown various pieces of artwork that show emotion. The students will point out specific objects, people, and colors used. The students will make connection between color and mood/emotion. The class will follow along to complete worksheet in which they draw and color in facial expressions for different moods.



 

2nd Grade (Bell-Day 1, Schalles-Day 2, Ressler-Day 3, and Corinchock-Day 5)

The students will be introduced to Model Magic air-drying clay. The students will learn how to form coils to create a coil pot. The students will make their own Greek vase by making coils.
If the coil pots are dry, the students will paint the vases.

3rd Grade (Shadle-Day 2. Laudeman-Day 3, and Selgrade-Day 5)

The students will finish adding and blending oil pastels to their projects. Any students who finish will begin working on a color review packet.

 


4th Grade (Nestor-Day 1, Herring-Day 2, and Burda-Day 3)

The students will complete the Point of View packet. Then the students will brainstorm, research, and sketch ideas for the Point of View project. After their sketch is approved, the students will sketch and then color in their final copy.

5th Grade (Kempsey-Day 3 and Wolfe-Day 4)

The students will be given demonstration of how to draw a whole face with correct proportion. The students will use facial features packet and observation to draw and shade in 6 different eyes, noses, and mouths. Then the students will practice drawing faces in proportion.

 


6th Grade (Ney-Day 1, Adams-Day 2, Hysock-Day 3, and Kessler-Day 5)




The students will review the project requirements and sketch their idea (Sketchbook Assignment #12). If ready, the students will continue on final sewing project, applying at least two of the practiced stitches.
