*Art at NSE with Mrs. Zink*

Below is my weekly schedule so you can see which rotation day your child has art class. Each week I will give an overview of what students will be learning and creating in art class. I will also include relevant images, information, and links to additional resources. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns!!

10/18/12 (Day 1) through 10/24/12 (Day 5)
 

Below you will find a brief description of what each grade level will be completing in art class this week along with any important vocabulary and/or artists.

Kindergarten (Potts-Day 1, Kaminsky-Day 3, Bernosky-Day 4, and Guldin-Day 5)

The students will apply prior knowledge to complete sketchbook assignment.
The class will review the primary colors and how they are used to create all other colors.

The students will complete activity in which they guess then recognize what two primary colors are mixed together to make the secondary colors.
The students will discuss the parts of a tree.

The students will follow along to name, draw, and color the parts of a tree.

1st Grade (Bridy-Day 1, Burns-Day 2, and Cooper-Day 4)

The students will complete sketchbook assignment.
The students will review the concept of abstract artwork and Joan Miro's artwork.

The students will recognize basic shapes that are found when drawing a person or an animal.

 The students will create abstract drawing of person and animal using basic shapes.

2nd Grade (Bell-Day 1, Schalles-Day 2, Ressler-Day 3, and Corinchock-Day 5)

The students will complete sketchbook assignment at the beginning of class.

The students will review Egyptian art and culture. The students will view examples and discuss the importance of Egyptian customs and techniques.
The students will review how Hieroglyphics were used as symbols for letters.

The students will view finish Hieroglyphics worksheet and then practice drawing Hieroglyphics, symbols, and images.

3rd Grade (Shadle-Day 2. Laudeman-Day 3, and Selgrade-Day 5)

The students will review the procedure of adding texture to their foil landscape.

The students will add color to their foil by painting on ink.



4th Grade (Nestor-Day 1, Herring-Day 2, and Burda-Day 3)

The students will review proper painting techniques.

The students will use tempera paint to add color to their 3D landscapes.



5th Grade (Kempsey-Day 3 and Wolfe-Day 4)

The students will review value, shadows, light source, and shading.

The students will review how to make a successful still life.

The students finish shading their still life drawings.





6th Grade (Ney-Day 1, Adams-Day 2, Hysock-Day 3, and Kessler-Day 5)


The students will review the Illuminated Letter project requirements and the planning process utilized before starting their final copy.

When their design is approved and chosen, they will begin sketching final copy of their illuminated letters.
