Below you will find a brief description of what each grade level
will be completing in art class this week along with any important vocabulary
and/or artists.

The students will complete sketchbook assignment at the beginning of

The students will be introduced to the primary colors of RED, YELLOW, and BLUE. The students will discuss how they are used to make the secondary colors.
The students will be introduced to the artist Piet Mondrian and his artwork.
The students will look at and discuss “Broadway Boogie Woogie” and
determine what the subject matter might be and what may have influenced Piet
Mondrian.
The students will complete class activity in which they listen to two different types of music and create a different drawing that matches each type of music.

The students will complete sketchbook assignment at the beginning of class.
The students will review information
about the Caves at Lascaux including what materials, techniques, and subject
matter the artists used to create cave art.
The students will continue creating a
piece of cave art using only the colors that were available in the past
(Earthtone colors), using the techniques available (dimmed lighting and rough
surfaces) and the main subject matter from that time (animals and symbols).
The students will finish their drawings
and color in their animals and symbols. They will use watercolors to darken the
paper.

6th Grade (Ney-Day 1, Adams-Day 2, Hysock-Day 3, and Kessler-Day 5)
The students will complete sketchbook assignment at the beginning of class.
The students will review Zen-tangles, view examples of Zen-tangle designs
and discuss the technique.
The students finish their own Zentangle design and then mount it on
colored construction paper.
