Below is my weekly schedule so you can see which rotation day your child has art class. Each week I will give an overview of what students will be learning and creating in art class. I will also include relevant images, information, and links to additional resources. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns!!

Below you will find a brief description of what each grade level will be completing in art class this week along with any important vocabulary and/or artists.



Kindergarten (Potts-Day 1, Kaminsky-Day 3, Bernosky-Day 4, and Guldin-Day 5)

Students will successfully complete first sketchbook assignment.

Students will be able to define and recognize types of lines, colors, and simple shapes.

Students will be able to recognize types of lines and shapes that are used in artworks.

The students will be able to recognize directional cues such as above, below, top, bottom, left, and right.

Students will be able to follow specific directions to create an artwork and realize how just one set of directions can create many different artworks.



1st Grade (Bridy-Day 1, Burns-Day 2, and Cooper-Day 4)

Students will successfully complete first sketchbook assignment.

Students will be able to recognize the Elements of Art (Line, Shape, and Color) and how they are used together to create successful artworks.

The students will apply knowledge of line, shape, and color to complete worksheet in which they define line, shape, and color through drawings and then put them together to create a successful picture.




2nd Grade (Bell-Day 1, Schalles-Day 2, Ressler-Day 3, and Corinchock-Day 5)

Students will successfully complete first sketchbook assignment.

The students will recognize the importance of art history.

The students will learn about Paleolithic Cave Art and view examples of specific cave drawings from Lascaux, France.

The students will predict what materials and techniques the artists used to create cave art.

The students will view examples of subjects that the artists painted and learn how basic shapes can be used to draw the animals.





3rd Grade (Shadle-Day 2. Laudeman-Day 3, and Selgrade-Day 5)

Students will successfully complete first sketchbook assignment.

The students will be introduced to the art element of texture and complete a class activity in which they determine different types of textures.



4th Grade (Nestor-Day 1, Herring-Day 2, and Burda-Day 3)

Students will successfully complete first sketchbook assignment.

The students will define landscape, the parts of a landscape, and view examples of landscape artworks.

The students will apply knowledge to complete landscape worksheet.




5th Grade (Kempsey-Day 3 and Wolfe-Day 4)

Students will successfully complete first sketchbook assignment.

The students will discuss value, shadows, light source, and shading.

The students will view examples and determine how value can be used to make objects look realistic.

The students will apply knowledge to complete value study worksheet.



6th Grade (Ney-Day 1, Adams-Day 2, Hysock-Day 3, and Kessler-Day 5)

Students will successfully complete first sketchbook assignment.

The students will define and discuss different types of lines and patterns.

The students will view examples of artwork in which line and pattern are utilized.

The students will apply knowledge learned about line to complete worksheet.
