Below you will find a brief description of what each grade level
will be completing in art class this week along with any important vocabulary
and/or artists.
Kindergarten (Potts-Day 1, Kaminsky-Day 3, Bernosky-Day 4, and Guldin-Day 5)
**Dress for Mess!!**
This week, Kindergarten will be painting in art class. On your child’s art day, please don’t send them to school in new clothes! They do, however, still need to follow the NSE dress code. Thank you!
The students will review the primary colors of RED, YELLOW, and BLUE and the artist Piet Mondrian.
The students will learn the proper way to use and care for paint and

The students will complete sketchbook assignment at the beginning of class.
The students will be
introduced to Egyptian art and culture. The students will view examples and
discuss the importance of Egyptian customs and techniques.
The students will recognize
how Hieroglyphics were used as symbols for letters.
The students will use the
knowledge of Hieroglyphics to complete worksheet.

The students will complete sketchbook assignment at the beginning of class.

The students will review the artwork of Vincent Van Gogh. The
students will discuss his artwork and use of texture.
The students will create a drawing of a landscape in the
style of Van Gogh.
They will transfer the drawing to foil and then create texture on the foil by manipulating the foil with various tools.
The students will use Sharpies to add contrast to their projects.

4th Grade (Nestor-Day 1, Herring-Day 2, and
Burda-Day 3)
The students will complete sketchbook assignment at the beginning of class.
The students will follow along with demonstration to create a
landscape drawing.
The students will transfer drawing to cardboard.

The students will discuss relief sculpture and the difference between
2D and 3D.
The students will make their landscapes three-dimensional by adding
model magic to the middleground and foreground.

The students will complete sketchbook assignment at the beginning of class.
The students will discuss
and view examples of letter illumination used throughout time.
The students will recognize
the art styles of Art Nouveau and Art Deco.
The students will complete a
worksheet in which the students practice and utilize a variety of fonts and styles
of letters.
