Below is my weekly schedule so you can see which rotation day your child has art class. Each week I will give an overview of what students will be learning and creating in art class. I will also include relevant images, information, and links to additional resources. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns!!

Below you will find a brief description of what each grade level will be completing in art class this week along with any important vocabulary and/or artists.

 

Kindergarten
(Bernosky-Day 1, Kaminsky-Day 3, Potts-Day 4,
Frushon-Day 5)

 

The students will use their painted purple paper from last week to draw and cut out a monster. They will then draw, cut out, and glue eyes, nose, mouth and details.

 

Frushon: The students will review what two primary colors are mixed together to make the secondary color of purple. The students will review the basic process of painting and using paint. The students will mix red and blue together to make purple and then paint their entire paper purple.

1st Grade
(Bridy-Day 1, Burns-Day 2, and Cooper-Day 4)


The students will review Patterns and finish Pattern Worksheet. They will be introduced to the Artist Gustav Klimt. They will view and discuss his artwork and his use of patterns. The students will practice patterns used by Klimt.

2nd Grade
(Corinchock-Day 1, Schalles-Day 2, McCabe-Day 3, and
Bell-Day 5)



The students will review information regarding symmetry. The students will learn about the life of Ancient Greeks and their decorated pottery. The students will finish Greek Pattern Worksheet and then practice drawing Vase Shapes.

 


 

 

3rd Grade
(Lynch-Day 2. Laudeman-Day 4, and
Selgrade-Day 5)

 

The students will review the project requirements. The students will finish oil pastel practice and then sketch project idea. They will then blend using the oil pastels.

The students will finish their jungle scene by outlining and coloring in. Students who finish their jungle scene will begin Elements of Art worksheet.

 



 

 

5th Grade
(Houser-Day 3 and Connors-Day 4)

 

The students will review craft vs. fine art and share their opinions on their similarities and differences. The students will learn basic weaving techniques and create a woven design out of paper. The students will then be introduced to African Paper Bead-making.

 

 

 


 

 

 

6th Grade
(Ney-Day 1, Leibensperger-Day 2, Hysock-Day 3, and
Kessler-Day 5)

 

 


The students will discuss and view examples of Wordart. The students will finish Wordart worksheet and then brainstorm and sketch two ideas for the project.

The students will be introduced to the vocabulary term of pattern. The students will view various examples and then create patterns of their own to complete worksheet.

The students will finish coloring their underwater scenes. The students will then create a crayon resist by painting the background with watercolor paint. Students may want to bring a paint shirt.

 

 

2nd Grade

The students will discuss and view examples of symmetry. The students will find examples of symmetry around the classroom and in various artworks. The students will complete symmetry worksheet.

 

 




 

 

 

3rd Grade
(Lynch-Day 2. Laudeman-Day 4, and Selgrade-Day 5)

 

The students will learn how to draw and shade pipes to make them look 3D. The students will complete 3D pipes worksheet. If time allows, the students will learn about oil pastels and how to blend them and then spend time experimenting.

The students will finish sketching their jungle scene. They will then outline with marker and then color in with colored pencils.  

 


 

5th Grade
(Houser-Day 3 and Connors-Day 4)

 

The students will review the process of drawing and shading ribbons. The students will be review project requirements and draw and shade twisted ribbons then add in a unique background with marker.

****Reminder!! Any 5th grade who brings in a shaded ribbon drawing to me will receive extra credit!!!

The students will review the project requirements, finish their sketch, outline with Sharpie, and then color in Illuminated Name project. The students who finish will begin WordArt worksheet.
