Kindergarten-
The students will review the primary colors and the artist Piet Mondrian, who uses the primary colors in his artwork. The students will discuss proper ways to use paint and paintbrushes. The students will use the primary colors to paint in their shapes.
***Students may bring in a smock, paint shirt or old t-shirt to wear over top of their clothes while painting. I do have a limited number of paint shirts available for those who do not bring in a paint shirt.

This week the Kindergarten students should be sent home with their first art project "Following Directions." They practiced their lines, shapes, and colors, and then had to follow a specific set of directions for the project. Their graded rubric is attached to the back. If you are curious to see the instructions for the project, they are listed below.

The students will review realistic and abstract artwork. They will review information on the artist Joan Miro. They will follow along to create abstract project in the style of Miro.

The students will review Egyptian art, architecture, and hieroglyphics. They will finish hieroglyphics worksheet. They will practice drawing various images, objects, symbols, and hieroglyphics from Egypt.

The students will review value and shading. They will discuss how to make objects appear 3D and realistic. They will complete Shape to Form worksheet.

If any students did not finish coloring in their landscape, they will finish it today. The students will review the project requirements. The students will sketch their idea on cardboard and finish adding model magic to make their landscape 3D. Some students may be ready to paint their 3D landscapes. The class will review proper painting procedures and then begin painting their landscapes.

The students will review the project requirements. They will finish adding in the basic shapes of the still life and then shade in. If finished, the students will begin rope, ribbon, knot, and bow worksheet.

The students will finish adding details to their Zen-tangle projects and then mount their project on construction paper. The students will finish the sketchbook assignment. The students will learn about illuminated letters and various other letter designs. They will begin worksheet.
