Below is my weekly schedule so you can see which rotation day your child has art class. Each week I will give an overview of what students will be learning and creating in art class. I will also include relevant images, information, and links to additional resources. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns!!

Below you will find a brief description of what each grade level will be completing in art class this week along with any important vocabulary and/or artists.

 

Kindergarten
(Bernosky-Day 1, Kaminsky-Day 3, Potts-Day 4, and
Frushon-Day 5)


The students will be shown the correct way to use scissors and glue sticks. The students will then cut and glue squares and rectangles onto their Mondrian painting.

Frushon: Your class will be painting this week.

The students will review abstract and realistic artwork. The students will review the artist Joan Miro. The students will draw and color abstract artwork in the style of Joan Miro.

The students will review Ancient Egyptian culture and artwork. The students will finish Hieroglyphics worksheet and then continue practicing drawing images and symbols from Egyptian culture.

The students will review value and value scales. The students will learn how to properly shade objects with a light source and cast shadow. The students will finish value scale worksheet.

 

 


 

 

4th Grade
(Nestor-Day 1, Herring-Day 2, and Moyer-Day 3)

 

 

The students will be introduced to the artist Henri Rousseau through an informative article. The students will discuss his life and artwork. The students will then discuss the jungle and types of animals and plants found there. The students will begin jungle worksheet.

The students will add final details and value to still life projects. The students will hand project in and then begin worksheet that gives step by step directions how to draw a shaded ribbon.

The students will be introduced to Illuminated Letters. They will view examples of lettering throughout time including Art Nouveau and Art Deco. The students will complete worksheet.

***Dress for Mess!!! The students will be painting in Art class this week. You can send them in with an old t-shirt to use as a paint shirt.

The students will be shown the correct way to use paints. The students will properly paint squares and rectangles in the style of Mondrian using the primary colors.

2nd Grade

The students will be introduced to Ancient Egyptian culture and artwork. The students will view images and examples of Hieroglyphics. The students will practice hieroglyphics by completing worksheet.

 


 

 

3rd Grade
(Lynch-Day 2. Laudeman-Day 4, and Selgrade-Day 5)

 
The students will finish their texture foil project by using sandpaper to enhance their design. The students will then be introduced to value and shading. The students will begin practicing a value scale.

 


 
 

4th Grade
(Nestor-Day 1, Herring-Day 2, and Moyer-Day 3)

 

The students will review project requirements. The students will review proper painting procedures and then paint their 3D landscapes.

The students will go over the project requirements and view successful examples of the projects. The students will discuss properly planning their still life drawing by choosing a correct composition. The students will begin sketching still life and then adding value.

(Ney-Day 1, Leibensperger-Day 2, Hysock-Day 3, and
Kessler-Day 5)

 

 

The students will add final touches to their Zen-tangle design. When the students finish they will choose a color and mount their design.

The students will then define and discuss adjectives and visual symbols. The students will then begin worksheet in which they draw visual symbols for adjectives that describe their personalities.
