Days 1-5
(September 15 -September 21)

Kindergarten-
The students will review their basic lines, shapes, and colors by completing a review worksheet. The students will then discuss how the same set of directions can result in many different pieces of artwork.  The students will be given a series of specific directions using lines, shapes, and colors. The students will use crayons to color in sections of their project. The students will observe how each artwork turned out different. The drawing will be graded using a rubric that will be sent home with the project.

1st Grade-
The students will review different types of lines, shapes, and colors. The students will review the project requirements from last week and then finish the last few steps to create their line landscape. When that is finished the students will be introduced to Abstract Artwork. The student will discuss how and why abstract artwork is made. They will also discuss the differences between realistic and abstract artwork. The students will begin review worksheet.

2nd Grade-
The students will review information about the Caves at Lascaux. The students will be given the project requirements and procedures. The students will create artwork using similar conditions to the cavemen (dimmed lighting, rough surfaces, etc). The students will use earth-tone colored crayons to color in their pictures.

3rd Grade-
The class will review information on texture and view examples of different textures found in the classroom and in various artworks. The students will practice sketching various animal textures. The students will be given a demonstration of how to transfer their design onto foil and give it texture. They will finish sketching their final design and transfer to foil.

4th Grade-
The students will review information on landscapes.  The students will follow along to create a detailed landscape that properly shows depth through the inclusion of a foreground, middleground, and background. They will color in using colored pencils.

5th Grade-
The students will review information on value and shading. They will complete their value worksheet. The students will then discuss still life artwork. They will learn important rules of composition and how to place objects on their paper in an interesting way. The students will sketch a still life using composition rules.

It will cover lines, shapes, colors, basic drawing ability, portraiture, and cutting and gluing. The exact same assessment will be given at the end of the year and then both will be graded and it will determine how much they have learned and retained throughout the year. The two grades will be averaged and included in the 4th marking period grades.

1st Grade-
The students will review different types of lines, shapes, and colors. The students will recognize how the elements of art are used together to create art. The students will point out examples of elements being used together in artworks. The students will complete worksheet in which they review line, shape, and color, draw examples of each, and then use them all together to create a picture.
