Kindergarten
Portraiture
Portraiture
The students will discuss the parts of the face and learn how to use basic lines, shapes, and even letters of the alphabet to assist them in drawing their facial features. They will practice on the white boards and then draw on worksheet. After the worksheet is completed the students will work on final copy of self-portrait in which they apply knowledge and techniques to create a realistic drawing that includes unique details. They will color realistically.

1st Grade
Van Gogh Sunflowers
The students will be introduced to the artist Vincent Van Gogh. They will learn about his art and life. They will learn about impressionism. They will follow along to paint a variety of flowers in the style of impressionism. They will trace, cut out, and glue a vase and add details with oil pastels.
2nd Grade
Impressionism
The students will review the warm and cool colors. They will learn about chalk pastel techniques. They will practice blending pastels using warm and cool colors. The students will then learn about the art style of impressionism and the artist Claude Monet. The students will follow along to create an impressionistic chalk drawing in either warm or cool colors.
3rd Grade
Radial Balance-Mandala
The students will be introduced to radial symmetry. They will discuss how it is different from symmetry and asymmetry. They will view and practice examples. They will complete radial symmetry packet. The students will create a unique and detailed Mandala utilizing radial symmetry.
4th GradeRealism/Abstract Expressionism
The students will learn about realism and techniques to create realistic artwork. They will view art by Wayne Thiebaud and practice creating realistic drawings. The students will choose an everyday object and draw realistically. The students will then learn about abstract expressionism. They will discuss the differences in appearance and techniques. They will learn about the artist Jackson Pollock and his techniques. They will create large-scale abstract painting.

5th Grade
Drawing Facial Features/Self-Portrait
The students will be introduced to drawing facial features realistically and with value. They will work on sketches of eyes, noses, and mouths. They will then work on putting the facial features together on a face using correct proportion.
6th Grade
One-Point Perspective
