Below is my weekly schedule so you can see
which rotation day your child has art class. Each week I will give an overview
of what students will be learning and creating in art class. I will also
include relevant images, information, and links to additional resources. Please
do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns!!

Kindergarten
Monochromatic Grapes (Mixing Purple)
Monochromatic Grapes (Mixing Purple)
The students will review painting procedures
and then mix and paint their entire paper purple. They will discuss tints and
shades and create different purples. The students will practice drawing leaves
and vines and then draw, cut out, and glue leaves and vines onto background.
The students will use tracers to trace
circles on the back of their purple painted paper. They will cut out and glue
down their circles to form two bunches of grapes. They will the add a details
with sharpies and paint.
1st Grade
Geometric
and Organic Shapes Collage in the style of Matisse
The students will review Geometric and
Organic shapes and how to create a collage. The students will review their
primary and secondary colors and then apply their skills and knowledge to
create two collages: one with Geometric Shapes and Primary Colors and the other
with Organic Shapes and the Secondary Colors.
Once the collage is completed, the students
will be introduced to patterns and practice a variety of patterns on the
whiteboards before completing worksheet.
2nd Grade
Coil
Pot
The students will then learn techniques for
working with Model Magic. The students will learn how to create a coil pot.
They will apply skills to create unique coil pot. They will review painting
procedures and paint their coil pots.
Once the coil pots are complete, the students
will be introduced to mosaic artwork through the completion of color by number
worksheet.
3rd Grade
3-D Pipes
The students will learn about oil pastels and
how to blend them correctly. The students will practice blending oil pastels through
the completion of two exercises. They will then sketch project ideas. Once they
have an idea they will draw it on the final paper and apply oil pastel blending
techniques to the project.
Once the project is finished, the students
will be introduced to mirror symmetry and practice drawing examples on their
white boards before completing worksheet.
4th Grade
The Elements of Art
The students will review the Elements of Art
and how they are used to create successful artwork. The students will learn
about each element, practice on the whiteboards and then complete pages from
the packet. Once the packet is complete the students will draw 7 large shapes
and begin adding an element of art to each shape.
5th Grade
Rope/Ribbon/Chain/Braid
The students will be introduced to drawing a
variety of subject matter and practice each one. They will learn how to apply
their knowledge of value to make them appear realistic. The students will then
choose one and create a unique project incorporating that subject matter. They
will carefully shade their subject matter and then create colorful background.
6th Grade
Monochromatic
Painting
The students will discuss proper painting
techniques. They will begin by completing a painting inside the lines worksheet
in which they will develop their brush skills. The students will then learn
about tints and shades and how to properly mix them. They will then apply
knowledge to paint value scales of both tints and shades. They will use all
concepts to paint and blend a monochromatic flower. The students will then
sketch ideas for the project and then paint in using all skills learned.
