Dear Parents and Students,
Welcome back for another exciting school year! My name is Mrs. Zink and I will be your son or daughter’s art teacher this year. This will be my fourth year here at NSE, and my 6th year teaching for the district. I am certain this year will be fantastic!
All students are expected to follow the art room rules,
which include: be respectful, listen and follow directions, clean up after
yourself, use materials and tools properly, and try your best. The students
will receive a daily participation grade which includes their ability to follow
the classroom rules and their involvement in the class.
In art class this year, your son or daughter will learn about art concepts and vocabulary terms, artists and art movements from throughout history, and use a variety of amazing materials. The students will complete sketchbook assignments, worksheets or activities, and projects, all of which will be graded.

I have high expectations for each student but I recognize
that all of us learn, create, and express ideas in different ways. One of the
main ideas that I will impress upon the students is to always “Try Your Best”. Each
student is capable of creating successful, meaningful artwork, regardless of
their artistic ability.
Each week I will update this blog. I do not assign
homework, however, I will provide descriptions of what each class is up to for
the week, along with related images, links, or vocabulary terms. My blog also gives more in depth explanations
of grading procedures and expectations. I will also include information about
when your child’s class will be working with paint and other materials that are
messy, so that your child may dress appropriately.
