9/11/13 (Day 1) through 9/17/13 (Day 5)
Below you will find a brief description of what each grade level
will be completing in art class this week along with any important vocabulary
and/or artists.
Kindergarten
(Bernosky-Day 1, Kaminsky-Day 3, Potts-Day 4, and Frushon-Day 5)
The students will review basic shapes, lines and colors. The instructor will discuss with the students how the same set of directions can result in many different results. The teacher will give a series of specific directions using lines, shapes, and colors. The students will use crayons to color in sections of their project. The students will observe how each artwork turned out different.

The students will complete sketchbook assignment and review lines, shapes, and colors from last week. The students will be introduced to the vocabulary word landscape and view examples of different landscapes. The students will follow simple directions and utilize various lines, shapes, and colors to create a concentric line landscape.

The students will complete sketchbook assignment and review lines, shapes, and colors from last week. 2nd Grade

The students will apply knowledge to successfully complete sketchbook assignment. The class will then review the information from last week. They will then complete the worksheet on the Caves at Lascaux.

When finished with
the worksheet the students will practice drawing various animals and symbols
that can be found in the Caves at Lascaux.

3rd Grade

The students will apply knowledge to successfully complete
sketchbook assignment. The class will review texture from last week. The class
will be introduced to the artist Vincent Van Gogh. They will learn about his
style of art and his use of texture. The students will view various examples of
texture and practice drawing textures.

4th Grade
(Nestor-Day 1, Herring-Day 2, and Moyer-Day 3)

The students will
apply knowledge to complete sketchbook assignment. The students will review
information and then apply that knowledge to complete landscape worksheet. The
students will follow along with instructor to complete landscape sketch and
then add in their own details to make it interesting. The students will color
in landscape using colored pencils.

5th Grade

The students will apply knowledge to sketchbook assignment. The
students will complete their value scale and then learn about shading. The
students will discuss still lifes. The students will view examples of still
lifes and they will be able to determine what makes a successful still life.
The students will practice drawing and shading still life objects.

The students will apply knowledge to
sketchbook assignment. The students will review information regarding line and
pattern and then complete worksheet using information learned. The students
will learn about the technique of creating Zen-tangles. The students will view
examples and learn the process. The students will discuss how an artist does
not need to know what an artwork will look like when it is finished in order to
create it. The students will use markers to begin their own Zen-tangle design.
