Below is my weekly schedule so you can see which rotation day your child has art class. Each week I will give an overview of what students will be learning and creating in art class. I will also include relevant images, information, and links to additional resources. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns!!

Below you will find a brief description of what each grade level will be completing in art class this week along with any important vocabulary and/or artists.

Kindergarten
(Bernosky-Day 1, Kaminsky-Day 3, Potts-Day 4, and
Frushon-Day 5)


***Dress for Mess!!! The students will be painting in Art class this week. You can send them in with an old t-shirt to use as a paint shirt.

The students will review the primary colors and the artwork of Piet Mondrian. The students will be shown the correct way to use paints. The students will properly paint squares and rectangles in the style of Mondrian.

The students will review abstract and realistic artwork. The students will be given demonstration of how to create a wet-on-wet abstract watercolor painting. The students will properly use watercolors to create abstract painting while listening to music.

Bell-Day 5)

The students will review the project requirements. The students will finish coloring their cave drawings. They will be given demonstration of how to create a crayon resist using watercolors. The students will paint their projects using earth-tone colors.

3rd Grade
(Lynch-Day 2. Laudeman-Day 4, and Selgrade-Day 5)

The students will review the project requirements and finish adding texture to foil. The students will be given demonstration of how to create a print from their foil by adding ink. The students will then paint their foil and create print.

4th Grade

The students will review project requirements and low-relief sculpture. The students will be given demonstration on how to properly use and apply Model Magic clay to their project to make it three-dimensional. The students will finish sketching landscape and then shape clay and press onto cardboard.

5th Grade

The students will go over the project requirements and view successful examples of the projects. The students will discuss properly planning their still life drawing by choosing a correct composition. The students will begin sketching still life.

The students will review the project requirements and then continue designing their own Zen-tangle. If any students finish they will choose a color and mount their design.

Below you will find a brief description of what each grade level will be completing in art class this week along with any important vocabulary and/or artists.




Kindergarten

The students will apply knowledge to complete sketchbook assignment. The instructor will introduce the students to the primary colors and how they are used to create all other colors. The students will study the artwork of Piet Mondrian and his use of the primary colors. The students will complete Mondrian worksheet. The students will learn ways to remember the primary colors through song and games.

1st Grade
(Bridy-Day 1, Burns-Day 2, and Cooper-Day 4)

The students will complete sketchbook assignment. The students will complete class activity in which they use music to influence their line drawings. The students will define abstract artwork and be introduced to the artwork of Wassily Kandinsky. The students will view his artwork and determine what types of music might have influenced his art. The students will practice interpreting music by completing drawings in which they draw abstractly to match the type of music.

2nd Grade

Bell-Day 5)


The students will review the information on the Caves at Lascaux. The students will be given the project requirements. The students will create drawings of animals and symbols in similar conditions as the artists from the Caves at Lascaux (dimmed lighting, rough surfaces, etc.). The students will then properly use crayons to color in their drawings using Earth-tone colors.

3rd Grade

The students will review information on texture. The students will be given the project requirements and a demonstration of how to begin. The students will draw an animal texture on paper and after approval, transfer the drawing onto foil and begin adding texture.

(Nestor-Day 1, Herring-Day 2, and Moyer-Day 3)

 

 

The students will apply knowledge to complete sketchbook assignment. The students will review information on landscapes and the parts of a landscape. The students will complete landscape drawing by following along with instructor and then adding in additional details to make their drawing unique. The students will be given the project requirements and discuss low-relief sculpture and then begin sketching landscape onto cardboard.

The students will apply knowledge to complete sketchbook assignment. The students will discuss still lifes. The students will view examples of still lifes and they will be able to determine what makes a successful still life. The students will practice drawing and shading still life objects.

Below you will find a brief description of what each grade level will be completing in art class this week along with any important vocabulary and/or artists.


Kindergarten
(Bernosky-Day 1, Kaminsky-Day 3, Potts-Day 4, and Frushon-Day 5)


The students will review basic shapes, lines and colors. The instructor will discuss with the students how the same set of directions can result in many different results. The teacher will give a series of specific directions using lines, shapes, and colors. The students will use crayons to color in sections of their project. The students will observe how each artwork turned out different.

1st Grade
(Bridy-Day 1, Burns-Day 2, and Cooper-Day 4)


The students will complete sketchbook assignment and review lines, shapes, and colors from last week. The students will be introduced to the vocabulary word landscape and view examples of different landscapes. The students will follow simple directions and utilize various lines, shapes, and colors to create a concentric line landscape.


2nd Grade
(Corinchock-Day 1, Schalles-Day 2, McCabe-Day 3, and Bell-Day 5)


The students will apply knowledge to successfully complete sketchbook assignment. The class will then review the information from last week. They will then complete the worksheet on the Caves at Lascaux.

When finished with the worksheet the students will practice drawing various animals and symbols that can be found in the Caves at Lascaux.

The students will apply knowledge to successfully complete sketchbook assignment. The class will review texture from last week. The class will be introduced to the artist Vincent Van Gogh. They will learn about his style of art and his use of texture. The students will view various examples of texture and practice drawing textures.

The students will apply knowledge to complete sketchbook assignment. The students will review information and then apply that knowledge to complete landscape worksheet. The students will follow along with instructor to complete landscape sketch and then add in their own details to make it interesting. The students will color in landscape using colored pencils.

The students will apply knowledge to sketchbook assignment. The students will complete their value scale and then learn about shading. The students will discuss still lifes. The students will learn about the technique of creating Zen-tangles. The students will view examples and learn the process. The students will discuss how an artist does not need to know what an artwork will look like when it is finished in order to create it. The students will use markers to begin their own Zen-tangle design.

The students will apply knowledge to complete sketchbook assignment. The will then review basic lines, shapes, and colors. The students will find and point out shapes, lines, and colors in various artworks. The students will review directional cues and practice various lines, shapes, and colors on the white board.

 

 

1st Grade

The students will apply knowledge to complete sketchbook assignment. The students will review basic lines, shapes, and colors. The students will recognize how the elements of art are used together to create art. The students will point out examples of elements being used together in artworks. The students will begin worksheet in which they review line, shape, and color, draw examples of each, and then use them all together to create a picture.

 

2nd Grade

The students will apply knowledge to complete sketchbook assignment. The students will discuss art history and how art was made in the past. The students will learn about the Caves at Lascaux and discuss how the artists made the artwork and what materials were available to them. The students will view examples of the cave drawings and discuss what subject matter was drawn. The students will begin a worksheet on the Caves at Lascaux.

The students will apply knowledge to complete sketchbook assignment. The class will discuss texture and view examples of different textures found in the classroom and in various artworks. The students will complete class activity in which they create texture rubbings of interesting textures from throughout the classroom.

 


 

 

4th Grade

The students will apply knowledge to complete sketchbook assignment. The students will define landscape, the parts of a landscape, and view examples of landscapes. The students will view landscape artwork and determine what makes a landscape successful. The students will apply knowledge learned to begin landscape worksheet.

The students will apply knowledge to complete sketchbook assignment. The students will be shown examples of value and discuss how value helps objects appear realistic and three-dimensional. The students will begin a value study worksheet using the knowledge from the instruction.
