Below is my weekly schedule so you can see which rotation day your child has art class. Each week I will give an overview of what students will be learning and creating in art class. I will also include relevant images, information, and links to additional resources. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns!!

January 17th-January 21, 2011

7th Grade Art (1st and 7th Periods)
Monday-Review vocabulary and complete sketchbook assignment.
Tuesday- Finish sketchbook assignment. Introduce artists Carmen Lomas Garza and Kara Walker.
Wednesday- Review artists and key vocabulary. Introduce Notan, Japanese paper-cutting technique.
Thursday- Complete Notan example.
Friday- Introduce Wycinanki, Polish paper-cutting technique.

Advanced Drawing (3rd Period)
Monday- Fabric and texture studies.
Tuesday- Fabric and texture studies.
Wednesday-Review color vocabulary and schemes.
Thursday-Introduce oil pastel techniques.
Friday- Introduce first project. Experiment with oil pastels.

Graphics (4th Period)
Monday- Proximity Business Card (digital)
Tuesday- Intro Alignment. Create alignment design.
Wednesday-Alignment Stationery (digital)
Thursday-Intro Repetition. Create repetition design.
Friday- Repetition poster. (digital)

Sculpture (5th Period)
Monday- Review relief sculpture. Intro project. Create thumbnails and compositional sketches.
Tuesday- Thumbnail sketches and compositional sketches.
Wednesday-Finalize sketches.
Thursday-Intro new material of Balsa Foam and carving techniques. Experimentation with material.
Friday- Transfer sketch and begin carving.

Intro to Art (6th Period)
Monday- One point perspective room.
Tuesday- One point perspective room
Wednesday-one point perspective room. Due at the end of class.
Thursday- Intro watercolor paints.
Friday- Review watercolor vocabulary and techniques and complete examples of each technique.
