Below is my weekly schedule so you can see
which rotation day your child has art class. Each week I will give an overview
of what students will be learning and creating in art class. I will also
include relevant images, information, and links to additional resources. Please
do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns!!

Kindergarten
Fall Tree (Mixing Orange)
Fall Tree (Mixing Orange)
The students will finish outlining their
trees with Sharpie, then color in neatly with crayons. Once the students are
finished coloring they will discuss color mixing and mix and paint to create
orange leaves for their trees.
Winter Tree
(Mixing Green)
The students will learn how to draw a pine
tree and then discuss the differences between the two types of trees they
learned to draw. They will discuss the primary colors and how to mix the color
green. They will apply knowledge to paint their paper green. Once dry, they
will draw the pine tree on the back and cut out. They will glue onto background
and add details and snow.
1st Grade
Geometric
and Organic Shapes Collage in the style of Matisse
The students will be introduced to Geometric
and Organic shapes. They will practice drawing a variety of both types of
shapes on the whiteboards. They will then complete worksheet. The students will
review and discuss art by Henri Matisse. The student will learn the process of
creating a collage. The students will review their primary and secondary colors
and then apply their skills and knowledge to create two collages: one with
Geometric Shapes and Primary Colors and the other with Organic Shapes and the
Secondary Colors.
2nd Grade
Greek
Vases
The students will learn about the life and
art of the Ancient Greek people. The students will learn about symmetry and
patterns. The students will complete worksheet practicing symmetry and
patterns. The students will discuss the project requirements and begin
sketching vase shapes. They will draw and cut out 3 vase shapes and then add a
variety of unique patterns in the style of the Greek people. The students will
glue onto background and add a shadow.
Coil
Pot
The students will then learn techniques for
working with Model Magic. The students will learn how to create a coil pot.
They will apply skills to create unique coil pot and then paint it.
3rd Grade
3-D Pipes
The students will review value and how to
shade. They will learn how to draw a variety of connecting pipes and add value
to make them look realistic. The students will complete worksheet. The students
will learn about oil pastels and how to blend them correctly. The students will
practice blending oil pastels. The students will then apply knowledge and
skills to the 3D pipes project.
4th Grade
The Elements of Art
The students will review the Elements of Art
and how they are used to create successful artwork. The students will learn
about each element, practice on the whiteboards and then complete pages from
the packet. Once all of the pages are complete the students will then apply
each element to the project in a creative way.
5th Grade
Reduction Printmaking
The students will finish any remaining prints. Once dry, they will pick their best print and cut it out and mount it.
Shaded Rope/Ribbon/Bow/Chain
The students will be introduced to drawing a
variety of subject matter and practice each one. They will learn how to apply
their knowledge of value to make them appear realistic. The students will then choose
one and create a unique project incorporating that subject matter.
6th Grade
Monochromatic
Painting
The students will discuss proper painting
techniques. They will begin by completing a painting inside the lines worksheet
in which they will develop their brush skills. The students will then learn
about tints and shades and how to properly mix them. They will then apply
knowledge to paint value scales of both tints and shades. They will use all
concepts to paint and blend a monochromatic flower. The students will then
sketch ideas for the project and then paint in using all skills learned.
