Below is my weekly schedule so you can see which rotation day your child has art class. Each week I will give an overview of what students will be learning and creating in art class. Kindergarten-
Smith-
The students will learn proper use and care of scissors. They will learn techniques to improve their cutting skills. The students will complete various cutting exercises.

Green and Potts- The students will review painting procedures and then use yellow and red paint to mix and create orange. They will use red, yellow, and orange to paint leaves onto their fall tree. **Students may bring in a smock or old t-shirt to wear as a smock.

 


1st Grade-
The students will review basic drawing techniques that can be used to draw more realistically. The students will learn the project requirements and follow along to begin underwater scene. They will independently finish their underwater scene and begin coloring.


2nd Grade-
The students will review Egyptian project requirements. They will transfer their hieroglyphics to gold paper. They will decorate with Sharpies and glue onto black background. When finished they will cut out and paint base coat of yellow onto what will be their Egyptian collars. They will brainstorm ideas of how they can paint and decorate the collars.

 


3rd Grade-
The students will review how to properly draw and shade in various pieces of water pipes. They will complete worksheet. The students will then be given demonstration of how to use and blend oil pastels. The students will practice blending using the oil pastels by drawing and shading in a pipe drawing.

 


4th Grade-
The students will then begin discussing the Elements of Art though sketchbook assignment and Powerpoint. They will complete Elements of Art packet. They will begin brainstorming ideas for the project.

 


5th Grade-
The students will review techniques to draw and shade ropes and ribbons. The students will complete rope and ribbon packet and begin brainstorming ideas for the project. When ready, they will begin project.

 
 


6th Grade-
The students will review information on illuminated letters. The students will be given the project requirements and begin brainstorming and sketching 4 ideas for the illuminated name project. They will choose their best idea and begin the final copy, trace with Sharpie, and begin coloring in.

(October 21-October 27)


 

Kindergarten-
Smith-
The students will continue working on their coloring skills by completing more complicated coloring exercises. The students will work on staying in the lines, completely filling in areas, and using small back and forth movements.

Green-The students will discuss the parts of a tree and how to make a realistic looking tree. The students will follow along to create a tree drawing and then color in. **The students will be painting next rotation.  

Potts-The students will review painting procedures and then use yellow and red paint to mix and create orange. They will use red, yellow, and orange to paint leaves onto their fall tree. **Students may bring in a smock or old t-shirt to wear as a smock.

2nd Grade-
The students will review Egyptian project requirements. They will finish practicing their name in hieroglyphics and then draw the hieroglyphics vertically on sketch paper. They will then transfer to gold paper. They will decorate with Sharpies and glue onto black background.

 


3rd Grade-
The students will review project requirements and add final details and value to projects. The students will then be given demonstration of how to properly draw and shade in various pieces of water pipes. They will complete worksheet.

 


4th Grade-
Any remaining students who need to finish painting their 3D landscapes will do so. The class will then complete abstract line, color, and shape worksheet. The class will then begin discussing the Elements of Art though sketchbook assignment and Powerpoint.

 


5th Grade-
The students will review techniques to draw and shade ropes and ribbons. The students will complete rope and ribbon packet and begin brainstorming ideas for the project.

 
 


6th Grade-
The students will review information on illuminated letters. The students will be given the project requirements and begin brainstorming and sketching 4 ideas for the illuminated name project.

Kindergarten-
The students will discuss the parts of a tree and how to make a realistic looking tree. The students will follow along to create a tree drawing and then color in.

**The students will be painting next rotation.

 


1st Grade-
The students will learn information on the artist Paul Klee and view examples of his artwork. The students will learn easy ways to draw underwater plants and animals.



2nd Grade-
The students will review Egyptian art, architecture, and hieroglyphics. They will finish hieroglyphics worksheet. They will view demonstration of the project and then begin sketching their name in hieroglyphics.  

 


3rd Grade-
The students will review value and shading. They will be given the project requirements. They will draw and shade in objects.

 

4th Grade-
The class will review proper painting procedures and then finish painting their 3D landscapes.

 

5th Grade-
The students will view videos of how to draw rope and ribbons. They will follow along to draw and shade various examples of ropes and ribbons.  

 


6th Grade-
The students will review information on illuminated letters. They will finish the adjective worksheet. The students will be given the project requirements and begin brainstorming and sketching 4 ideas.
